Doesn't shrink onto cord without so much heat that it's close to burning. I'm buying a different one that doesn't involve a lighter or hair dryer.

Took a bit to figure out how to slide them over the cables and to get them in the right position before heating them up to cause them to shrink. So far they have held really well. Just had to re do one because I placed it a little off, now that end is covered and worked fine.

We bought these to help the wires last longer. We had to replace all our phone charging cables this year within 3 months of buying them new. They all failed in the same place. We don't take our wires out a lot (we have different sets for taking out and staying home, but they all failed around the same time and for the same reason). They all broke right by the plug. So I figured if I can make that part a little bit stiffer, it might help. These things are easy to put in and easy to size and shrink in place. They don't look amazing (as even the most careful turn iver the flame will leave black marks that cannot be removed) but it if saves me from buying new cables every 3 months it is worth it. Sadly a hair dryer does not get hot enough for these to melt into place. We tried. You get quite a few if these things in the package, so we dis put guards on a lot of cables and still have some left over. So I would say it is a good value for your money.

These things are awesome! It makes the cord attachments SOLID.Make sure there’s no breeze when you do this over a flame-I held it right above the flame and not in it like the instructions said, but there was a ceiling fan on that kept pushing the flame onto it and put some black marks on it. Didn’t ruin it at all-just put some soot on it. I got the hang of it after my third try.I have no worries about my cords wearing out now!
