Works perfect for someon working alone. I've used it to hang doors in the house as well as when building a shelf in the garage. The hardest part is trying to make sure it's out of your way while you're working around it. When I was making the shelf, I had to prop it up with wood. The smaller trigger is nice for lowering something slowly instead of releasing it all together and dropping it.

How did I live without these? I don't use them everyday, but they're great for lifting the edge of items to replace casters, insert sliders, adjust feet, etc. They're good for spreading, too. All you need is a 1/4" gap. I also used them with an extension board to straighten a warped shelf (without unloading it) so I could reinforce it. They seem rather expensive, but I question the safety of cheaper alternatives.

This is a very handy tool, and high quality. Heavier than expected!

I used this to lift a heavy shed one corner at a time to be able to block it up and move it. Worked good. The second time I did this I had bought a second one and worked perfectly together when used with both hands

For a lot of people, these may not be a tool you use every day, but they are incredibly helpful when you do. I had purchased some of the cheapo knock-offs as I wasn't sure if I would need them often enough to justify the more expensive versions. I used those a couple times, and they are definitely best only used for things that are very light. These Irwins make the cheapos seem like toys. And if you are lifting things with any amount of weight, the safety issue alone makes these the better option.I ended up snagging two of these when on sale for $80 each. I sometimes need to move and/or work on very heavy pieces of fitness equipment, and these will be very helpful in lifting them so I can slide rolling dollies underneath. The other day, I used one on a treadmill, and it had no trouble lifting the heavier end of the machine. They are built very well and are strong as heck. If they help to avoid just one lifting-related injury or damage to an item, they've paid for themselves.
