I've been roasting green coffee for several years and have learned how crucial cooling the beans quickly is to prevent over roasting. I've been using a home made plenum box connected to a portable vacuum cleaner that sucked air through the beans. It was effective but large and extremely noisy to cool the beans. Thus, I started looking for a solution and came across this handy little gadget. For the price I thought I would give it a try.Bottom line, I am thoroughly impressed by how well this simple fan based system works. I simply transfer my beans from the roster to the top section, flip the switch and stir the beans and they cool to 80 degrees in about a minute. The grate holding the beans is designed to dechafe the beans as you stir and works great. I can't even hear the fan running which makes my wife very happy. The size is excellent and fits into my roasting station nicely. I roast small batches of beans (8oz), so the size works for me. I think the top section could be a bit deeper to allow for a more vigorous stir or to cool a larger batch. The only other thing that could be improved is to use stainless steel for the sections as there is a warning in the instructions to dry thoroughly after washing to prevent rust. Otherwise, this bean cooling systems is well built and works as advertised. I think it's a good value for the price and recommend this unit to any serious coffee roster. I have included pictures that illustrate the points made above.

This is an essential tool for coffee roasters, to lock in the flavor at the precise point you stop roasting.Simple to use; Load your hot roasted beans into the top and turn it on.The loose chaff falls down onto the fine screen and the beans are cooled by a powerful fan.Solid metal construction, high quality metal screens, very quiet fan.Highly recommend this Coffee Bean cooler!

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this appliance. I had read the reviews - some glowing, some not so good, and some clueless (One person downgraded it because they thought it was supposed to roast beans as well as cool them. Good grief.). I use a venerable Fresh Roast SR500 for roasting. I have times and temperatures worked out for different roasts, but it’s still dependent on bean color and estimating how much more the beans will cook even on the roaster’s cooling cycle. The Jiawanshun allows me to stop the roast during the heating phase and rapidly cool the beans. I usually roast 165-180g of beans and the Jiawanshun cools this amount in about 2 minutes. The roast is pretty much stopped when I want due to the very efficient cooling. The cooler is very quiet, simple, easy to use and clean. It would take longer to cool more beans, but for my purposes the Jiawanshun is perfect. I would highly recommend it to anyone roasting batches of a half pound or less. It might work ok for up to a pound, but I have no experience with this amount.

Ce petit système fonctionne vraiment bien. Il est silencieux et efficace. Pour 64$, ça vaut la peine et ça simplifie vraiment mon processus de torréfaction. Je torréfie des batches de 250g et il y a encore pas mal de place dans le bac pour d'autres grains.
