4 Stars.I've been on the lookout for permanent kayak paddle grips since last autumn, when the fingerless gloves I had been using began to fall apart. The gloves were helpful in preventing some blisters, but they didn't stick well to the paddle when they got wet, plus they made my hands hot and sweaty and gave me weird tanlines. Separately, I was also planning to make myself a paddle tether out of lightweight paracord - I've never yet completely lost hold of my paddle, but for some things once is one time too many.I was instantly interested when I saw this 2-1 set and I'm really glad I decided to try it out. The tether is about 3 feet long, unstretched, which is long enough to keep it out of the way while I'm paddling. It's a soft nylon covering a thick, flat elastic cord, and it's so lightweight that I don't even notice it's there. I prefer to attach the carabiner clip to my life jacket while I'm in the water, but it's easy to move to the side of the kayak before I get out. The clip is very thin and light, though, and I don't trust it not to break, so I'll be replacing it with a more substantial steel carabiner before I use it again. The paddle grips, however, are definitely not thin or delicate. They are very sturdy and thick and feel like they can take a lot of wear and tear. The ends are rounded and smooth, and the length feels seamless, with no rough edges that could scratch against my kayak or my hands. They are also well textured to help me maintain a good grip even when wet.Putting them on the paddles was not a quick and easy task. One of my paddles has a raised ridge along one side (see last photo) and it was particularly difficult to get the grip over it. Getting the grip and paddle wet didn't help, so I ended up using a hairdryer set on high to heat the side of the grip for 15-20 seconds in order to work it down a half-inch, then reheat and do it over again. I didn't time how long it took to do this, but it was the better part of 10 minutes. This set does not comes with instructions or tips, though the Amazon product page advises the 'use water to slide the grip into place' method (which didn't work in my case, but may work on other paddles).I don't consider the difficulty in positioning the grips a negative, as I am confident they won't just slide off during use. It's just something to be aware of: you may need to spend some time placing them correctly, so don't wait until you're about to head off for a day on the water.I considered giving this item 5 stars because I am very pleased with this set on the whole, but I have to take off 1 star for two things (mostly the first): 1) the carabiner is too flimsy to be trustworthy, and it shouldn't be necessary to immediately a upgrade key part of a product, and 2) an instruction sheet with the set with tips what to do/not do in placing the grips would be helpful.4 Stars for a sturdy and substantial product at a great price ($9)-1 Star for a flimsy tether clip that needs replaced + no included instruction/tip sheet

Gives a decent amount of grip and padding, the tether is strong enough to catch a paddle and stretches long enough to not get in the way while paddling.

I got a passel of kayaks and I got a passel of grandsons approaching kayak age. This is perfect! 1, 2, 3, 4.1. Just slip the grips on the paddles*.2. And slide on the leash.3. Slide and the two paddle halves together.4. Clip the leash to your designated recipient. A point on the boat, or a point on the life jacket.Hooray! No more wandering paddles! This is great insurance. Are these grips required to use the leash? No. As long as paddle halves stay connected, you got this.Note: The grips easily slid on the… not shown cheaper Harmony paddles, and on the Bending Branches. Was a bit slower on the thicker center of the Carlisle RS, but it could work. My main use for the leash will be for the kiddos using the entry paddles. Will need more!5 stars for the insurance, the price and the grief saving.Paddle leash Vine review. Brand: FAIROOTH.TPinSwUSA Vine Voice rating scale:★ Well below expectations. You might have to use a little moisture to get them exactly where you need them on the paddle arms, but once you do (and get it dry), they stay in place and very comfortable. I find these grips help provide better control than the neoprene grips out there. Plus...I admit it: I have cheaper metal paddles that can get cold to hold. These grips make that no longer a problem.

I love the being able to secure my paddle to my kayak. This is a great set, well worth the price. The grips are soft and stay in place, and the leash clips on securely and is a good length. Lightweight and highly functional tool for kayakers.
