I had the opportunity to use this set on 2 different broken bolts. Before I began the process, I did hit the threads with penetrating oil in hopes of making my job easier. I was successful with one bolt, and not with another. On the first bolt, it was a steel bolt in a steel block. It was easy enough as the drill bit was sharp and quickly bored a hole. (The key to success is using a center punch to make sure you are in the middle of the broken bolt.) I seated the extractor bit and then I used a crescent wrench to unscrew it.The second bolt is still a problem. Same process as above, but this is a steel bolt in an aluminum patio chair leg, so the dissimilar metals have apparently fused together. In my attempt to unscrew with the extractor, I could feel the extractor grabbed really well, but as I continued to torque with the wrench, the extractor sheared off. I was able to drill it out and try again, but I’ve had no success in removing the bolt. I will likely have to oversize drill the hole and rethread it. Pain in the butt.I’ve not had an extractor fracture on me in the past. Decent quality, but the coating makes them a little less sharp than they could be, but when the coating wears, it reduces their strength so they won't last too long. Good value for the price, just not high quality enough to use for a long time.

This is a good set to have on hand. Sooner or later the need arises particularly with the increasing number of inferior quality screws on the market. The set has a nice assortment of sizes and the extractors and screws seem hard and quite durable. If you haven't used this tool before extracting headless screws it takes some practice to become proficient.Damon M. Tatem

Nice package - comes in multiple sizes and doubles up on the most likely used size. Comes with screw extractors for screws who's head broke off and the rest is still stuck - worked well backing out a broken screw from my chair arm rest. Also comes with traditional drill bits as well. Good value for the money.

This 14 piece screw extractor set has 7 left-handed drill bits for drilling out the head of the screw and 7 screw extractor bits. They come in a plastic case with a pretty crappy insert that holds them, this is the kind of plastic that is generally used for disposable items.
