Worked as described. Apparently the Maytag washer we have is known for this seal failing over time. It was a rather complex install, but not too bad. There's a video online that walks you through the whole process. I would recommend you also check the bearing to the motor drive while in there. If you had a leak, the water probably got into the bearing underneath. When I got mine all back together, the leak was gone, but then we started having a loud squealing noise when it ran. Lessons learned I guess.

This is a pretty involved job but well worth your time a labor because all the washers on the market today have been designed not to last more than 5 years. I did a lot of research before I did this repair and was horrified when I read the comments on even the highest rated washers for sale, nothing I found had better than a 64% positive feed back. All the parts were well-designed, worked perfect. I only ran into one snag this kit does not include the "Center Seal Grease" and you need to make sure you used this stuff since this is a moving rubber seal, it is a specialized grease make sure to pick up a tube they have it here on Amazon. Maytag / WhirlPool stopped offering this kit. Aftermarket is now the only option. The Aluminum casting looked nearly identical to the original, minus all the casting numbers and marks are missing from the new part. The good news is the part machining, fit & finish seem on point. The included seal and bearing also look good, but its hard to tell origin of the sealed bearing unit. The Kit comes with screws for 2 of the 3 sets used in the repair. It would be more helpful if they included the 4 larger screws that thread into the smooth bore holes in the aluminum casting. Those are the most likely to be corroded and seized. That was the case with mine with one of the bolts snapping off in the hole. I created my own replacement bolt from a standard shoulder bolt. I tapered the end and cut a slit in it to make it somewhat self tapping, like the original.

I bought this kit to replace a leaky tub seal and bad bearing in my 20 year old Maytag washer. MAV-9759-AWW. I found a video with a similar model that was a decent walk through, but was a little older. Take pictures along the way so you can be sure where everything goes back. Also make sure you can get the old parts off before you open this up.Things to know…1. Purchase come waterproof grease ahead of time. The instructions call for it, but don’t include it.2. The original coupler is two pieces. The plastic piece may screw off separately if you don’t damage too much. Otherwise you’ll have to remove the whole transmission mount and get a very large (2’ or more) pipe wrench to screw off both pieces at one time. This took two people to do, but it got done.3. Before removing the seal and cover from the transmission, mark the cover and the legs so that they return to the original place. This is imperative or else nothing will line up when putting the tub and drain back together. Ask me how I know. When reinstalling the coupler I used some white pipe dope. There seemed to be some from the factory on the original parts.4. This kit, for some reason, includes four stainless steel replacement screws to replace the original ones. These are not necessary. They screw into plastics and come out without issue. What SHOULD HAVE been included were the four metal replacement screws that screw into the tubs to the metal coupler. The holes in the coupler are not threaded and these screws are self threading. However after 20 years of water and gunk, mine were corroded. Luckily they were still good enough to reuse. You gotta know this going in so you don’t mess them up. Also the original Maytag kit gave replacement screws here, not the stainless ones.5. Don’t over tighten any of the screws. Some into plastic don’t need over torquing and the ones in mental will bottom out and be snug. I did NOT use any thread locker here.6 . The foam gaskets are annoying, but use some of the grease to get them in place. I think they were glued at the factory.Overall, this got the job done. The seals seem tight and the quality decent. After a dozen loads it’s working nicely. The bearing is smooth and quiet. I had to knock the stars for the screws and the grease. No grease was frustrating, but the screws could have been a disaster if the originals didn’t hold up.

This is an upgrade kit (from pre 2005 two piece original design that I used to extend the life of our top load Maytag Performa heavy duty/capacity washing machine. There was leaking and the original tub bearing on the transmission was failing bad/noisy. This is an almost complete turn key repair solution (less grease), where "Plumber's Grease" can be had at Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Rona, Amazon, etc. There are excellent DIY tutorials on YouTube for how to do this DIY repair. I had to remove the unit to the garage and get out a 4 1/2" cutting wheel to get the seized original Maytag two part unit off the transmission shaft. These kits are hard to find, Maytag no longer stocks them to the best of my information, and this is a good kit and I feel I paid a fair price.
