Nice aftermarket Carplay radio for VW. I put this in a 2012 VW Passat and it is a direct bolt in. It fits perfectly inside the bezel. The directions leave a lot to be desired (hence 4 stars) but all the wires are labeled as to what they are for. Took a few tries to figure everything out as to what I needed to have hooked up and what didn't need to be hooked up. It does have external microphone and two external USB ports that are not really needed. Carplay works well wirelessly via bluetooth and wifi. There is a wire on the back that if you hook it up the radio has to be turned off manually with the power button as it creates a constant power source so it does not turn on and off with the ignition. I ended up disconnecting that and now it works with the ignition. It automatically connects to my phone and shows the apple carplay screen. Radio itself has a nice equalizer built in but the reception has not been the best for some channels. The cord mine came with had a bent prong that I had to straighten to get it to pull in any channel. There is no wire splicing involved as all the correct connectors are included.I have not played with the offline navigation yet but it does have it's own GPS antenna. You cannot hook up the cars existing one without some customization that I was not willing to do yet. I also did not hook up the back up camera yet as I did not have time to run the wires. The screen commands can be a bit confusing at first, but once you figure out what does what it works well. I was able to play videos on it via screen mirroring.It taps into the existing car systems and will display the AC controls on the screen just like the factory radio did and it also shows doors open and other things. Steering wheel controls still work like they did with the factory radio. There is a section where you can customize what the steering wheel buttons do but I chose to leave it like the factory one.Overall, this is a nice upgrade for a 13 year old vehicle that is easy to install.
