This is a review on Klein Tools wire strippers type 11046EP. These are excellent wire strippers from a trusted USA maker. As a hobby guitar stomp box builder, I mainly use 22 awg multi-stranded PTFE insulated wire which I pre-cut into relatively short lengths (1 to 6 inches). My automatic strippers (AB Mk1s, I have both vintage and new) will not strip this PTFE to any acceptable standard. These Kleins work fine, but very short lengths (1-inch) are difficult to hold. I get round the problem by using the basic Klein /Ideal style to pre-cut the PTFE and ABs to pull off. It’s a bit of a ‘mess on’ but it works. I’m fussy about the tools I use and these Kleins are as good as you’ll get.

These are excellent little wire cutters for the price. Klein tools are great and standard in the industry. Made in the USA is the selling point for me. Plus one star.Upon receiving I was pleasantly surprised to find the grips were a perfect solid rubber feel. Not too soft so that they deform or slip in rain or sweaty hands yet not hard like plastic or metal and keeps the metal from freezing your hands on cold days. Also helps with gloves or big bear paws like mine. Plus another star= two stars. The cutters are sharp and accurate. They were sharp and had no issues cutting through each respective insulation. They are ground quite well and fit to its mate nicely. Plus another star= three star. They have lasted for me for many cuts. All copper. Still sharp with no issues, they do not bind. The spring is a good tension. Although it was clumsy in my tool pouch so I simply removed it. Its easy to do and for storage it fits well in the vertical position while closed. The tolerances work well and with a flip of the ring finger I can open the plies just fine. Plus one star= 4 StarsAll this under 15 bucks Plus another star= five stars. Some have said that one fault here is the that the gauges are simply stamped and hard to see. This is true. However, simple tricks to the uneducated, but we are educated arent we..?Step 1. Go find yellow or white or red paint. Or any color. Use nail polish or acrylic or enamel. I used acrylic with good results as that's what was at my girlfriends house at the time and she doesn't wear yellow nail-polish. Nail polish or enamel will probably last longer but is easier to mess up. Acrylic has been working for months just fine.Step 2. Get small Qtip or brush. I used a qtip. Take some paint and smear it over the AWG numbers and words that are stamped. I didn't do the warning labels as that should be well known and I didnt care to do that as well.Step 3. Let sit a few minutes then using your finger rub the excess of... USE YOUR FINGER! Anything absorbent will soak up the paint out of the stamping.Step 4. Then go around and carefully with a clean q-tip wipe the excess off. Let dry. Clean up anything extra and it should just chip away. Especially if you use acrylic.Step 5. Admire your handy work.Yes this seems excessive but USA Made is important to me. Klein has to cut some corners in order to compete with lower quality junk that's all over. I will gladly forfeit paint in order to continue production in USA.The whole idea took 20 min from conception to completion and the tool is much more user friendly now. This review took longer. I am trying to update a picture but cant seem to find it. Maybe I will have to update a video to show this.Look at customer images or video reviews to see if I have.
