Being able to change the key (whenever needed) without having to change the whole knob is a massive bonus. Quick and easy to install the knob one last time then it takes about 3 seconds to change the key when necessary.

Asegúrate que la herramienta de programación entre hasta el tope (como dicen las instrucciones y seguir al pie de la letra) de lo contrario, se desprogramará completamente y ninguna llave te servirá. Si no entra hasta el tope, seguramente el cilindro está defectuoso y será mejor que regreses esta chapa o no intentes reprogramar porque tu chapa quedará inservible!Otra cosa: La instalación es una pesadilla. Los tornillos de mi cerradura anterior no coincidieron milimétricamente con ésta nueva y el pistón rozaba continuamente con esta chapa por lo que la puerta no cerraba ni abría bien. Tuve que ponerle otra de las placas que tiene mas espacio para que no roce el pistón pero definitivamente no se ve bien (ver foto). Si vas a cambiar tu cerradura, definitivamente no la recomiendo por este detalle, hay otras versiones (o marcas) que ya traen la placa “pegada” al pistón y no separados.

Needed to replace 5 locks, all keyed the same. The programming key makes re-keying easy and fast. Plus I have the other four pairs of keys, that I could re-key all of the locks at any time, in a matter of minutes.

Excelente producto, pero si intentas cambiar la llave y no sale perfecto, no te va a servir para nada, no se puede desarmar para sacar los pistones.

I purchased this door handle to replace an Ace Hardware door handle into the garage from the kitchen that had become stuck. My front door and rear door are Kwikset Smartkey locks so rather than go through the hassle of rekeying a replacement lock I decided to order this Smartkey lock to keep all my keys the same. Construction appears to be ok although I will say the knob is a bit small, if you have large hands like myself this small knob can feel rather small, another issue is that my door is a left hand outswing door because of this the only way to install the lock is to face the keyhole upside down their is no way to reverse the internal door latch to accept the knob right side up. The instructions tell you to do it this way and I'm sure it was a cost saving feature, along with the small knob profile which is why I believe this is builder grade hardware. I'm planning to keep it because it works and I have it keyed to match my existing locks. My suggestion is that if you are looking for higher quality, a larger knob and the ability to reverse the internal latch to face the keyhole in the correct position do not purchase this. If you don't care about those issues then its a suitable product.
