Works as advertised, very relaxing. Colors are beautiful once it warms up.

I don’t recommend taking a chance on this. I don’t know if I just received a defective one or what. But it doesn’t work at all. It lights up and gets hot. But nothing ever moves. I’ve tried it several times. Leaving it on for hours. The base gets hot so you would think it would work like a regular lava lamp. Sadly it does not.And unfortunately, I ordered this as a Christmas gift that wasn’t used until recently. So I can’t return it or get a refund. That’s on me I guess for not checking it out sooner. But when you order something you expect it to work after seeing other positive reviews.Just a warning to others if you’re looking at this product. The concept is nice. The functionality is not.

My son absolutely loves this lava lamp. I got it to go in his room and it looks perfect! I absolutely love this lava lamp. There are tons of color options which is really neat! There’s a color option to fit any mood! This lava lamp is functional and a good size. It’s not too small or too big. It’s pretty bright at night with the lights turned off. My son uses it as a night light. It also has the option to make it brighter or dimmer which is nice. The light that the lamp gives off is warm and peaceful. This lamp also has a timer so it turns off after 8 hours so I don’t have to worry about forgetting to turn it off.

I rarely leave bad reviews, but I bought this because of all the good reviews so I’m going to share my experience.From the reviews, I expected it to need about 3 hours to warm up and run. I ran it 3 separate times for 8 hours each (it cuts itself off after 8 hours). The wax never once left the bottom. I thought I had a defective model so I ordered a replacement.The replacement came. I again ran it for 3 separate times at 8 hours each. Again, there was no movement at all. This time I saw the pamphlet in the box with a customer service email address. I emailed them and they basically just said “try again”. So I ran it 2 more times. In their defense, on the 2nd time (5 times overall, roughly 36 hours in) it did start to move a bit. The next time I ran it I got some movement after about 4 hours. The times I have ran it since have been hit or miss. The times it did work, it took like 4 or 5 hours to get to that point. And again, it cuts off after 8. It seems very unlikely that I got 2 defective units, although I will say many reviewers commented about how hot it gets and mine never got particularly hot. So I’m not sure what the deal is, but I am returning both of them and buying a normal lava lamp.
