El LP Repinique de doble cabeza es el complemento perfecto para el Surdo, tradicionalmente jugado con un palo y utilizado para señalar cambios en el tempo o la actividad bailarina. El LP Repinique es ligero en peso y produce exclamaciones altas que penetran en el ruido de una trompa callejera. Tensionado alto, el LP Repinique mantiene el paso de forma segura mediante seis tornillos ajustables colocados debajo del borde para mayor comodidad. La cabeza superior incorpora un radio especial superior que es fácil en las manos.

This is a lightweight and responsive drum, and that can be carried easily all day, unlike some of the Brazilian made offerings which can be significantly heavier. This drum represents good value for money, it is well made and comes with very good quality hardware. For playing in your samba batucada you will need to crank the heads fairly high to get an acceptable pitch/tone with the standard LP heads that are supplied with the drum. Note that the supplied LP heads are thin - not the thickness of heads that come supplied on most Brazilian made repiniques. It is for this reason that the drum has likely garnered negative reviews from some users who find the sound too thin (lots of overtones and high-end ring, but little sustain). Substitution of a typical resonant head (thickness 7-10mil) results in the higher sustain, attack, and deeper tone expected of a typical Brazilian repinique. A simple change to a thicker resonant head will produce the clear, loud and deep tone of the contemporary repinique.

The Brazilian-made instruments aren't easily obtained in the states right now, so I took a chance on the LP, and so far I'm liking it just fine. Using a standard drum key is a nice perk - the Brazilian instruments tend to use non-standard tightening nuts, and ship with a tightening wrench specific to the drum. Not a problem, until you lose it! I assume the LP head is also a standard size that will be easily replaced, which is another perk. Brazilian instruments can be sized slightly differently, so you end up having to order replacement heads from Brazil or Europe to get the best fit.
