I bought a used LG dryer. When I got it home And hooked it up it would only run for 15 minutes before tripping the high limit thermostat. I didn’t think it could be anything serious so I decided to just fix it. Glad I did. While I had it apart I replaced all three thermostats and thermistor. Also there was tons of lint buildup so I’m glad I took it apart because with so much lint there’s always a risk of fire. Cleaned it thoroughly and now it works like it should. Be sure to buy only LG parts. I made the mistake of purchasing some cheap offbrand’s and they weren’t identical to the parts I was replacing so I didn’t use them. Luckily they were cheap enough to where I didn’t have to bother returning them. Just glad To see the dryer working. Good luck.

Genuine part, not a whole lot to say about it. Kind of a ridiculous design, in that aspect I'd give it two stars. The engineer who decided to put a resettable thermal fuse deep in the dryer...but make it not *actually* resettable should be fired. If you read the service manual, it says once these pop they're trash. I reset mine once without having read that, and it failed again before the first load of laundry was dry. It's a cruel trick to bury this in the dryer, make it mechanically resettable, but not actually serviceable if it's reset. So design gets one star from me, but that's no reason to ding the rating on this item's listing: if you're buying this item, you have no choice on what design to use, so at least you know you're getting the real deal that will plug right in and work.

easy repair for my LG clothes dryer. Dryer was not heating and taking a long time to dry when it did work. This repair took me 15 minutes. I unscrewed 1 screw in the exhaust, took out the long tube that goes into dryer. I unscrewed 2 screws and then screwed the 2 screws back in with this new thermostat. Very easy fix. Works great.

I ordered this part for my LG DLG4971W which FYI I found is nearly identical to the DLG4871W. This part arrived, fit and worked as expected but it did not fix my issue. I thought I would share my experience. The overall issue was that the dryer would not heat. I took the front off and could see that the igniter would come on for about 5 seconds, shut off and repeat. I read a lot of articles and watched videos and found that the most common parts to fail in this case were the therma fuse, therma sensors, flame sensor, gas valve solenoids, gas valve and control board – in that order.I found that the sensors are safely and easily tested with a volt/multimeter. In my case they all tested “good” so everything was pointing to the more expensive control board or gas valve. I wasn’t sure of myself so I as I indicated, I ordered this part and found that it didn’t help. From there, not wanting to touch the gas valves, I ordered a control board. My model has two boards – one in front with the buttons and knobs and another one behind it with some wire connectors and circuitry. I ordered the board with the circuitry and that fixed the issue. ~$110

Works great. Haven't had issues with over heating or resetting yet.
