This key was advertised as working with my 2012 Toyota Matrix but it does not have the right chip in it, it cannot be programmed for the car. Cost me another 7 bucks to have it cut first!

This key worked perfectly. Just follow fellow reviewer "Matt's" programming steps. Keep in mind, the panic button will not work. Still, overall great value! We had the key 'cut' at Canadian tire with no issue.

Using this key for a 2007 Toyota Vitz RS. Common issue for these keys is the shank to break off from the plastic transmitter portion of the key. Expected on a 14 year old car. I do not have immobilizer on my car just wireless door locks. I did not spend time programming this aftermarket transmitter however as mine still worked, I was only having issue with shank seperation. I swapped the OEM internals from my original key into this key and had the key cut by VIN at the dealership. Some dealerships may not do this as it is an aftermarket key. Lucky I knew the Parts manager and he cut me some slack. I could have taken it to any hardware store with my shank to get it cut. Smokin deal for this key in my opinion. Other reviews state it did program for them and worked their locks.

You will need to follow the procedure to program the fob to the car to allow remote lock/unlock, and panic.The steps to program are as follows:1) Start with driver's door unlocked - all others locked including trunk. Key out of ignition. Driver's door open.2) Insert and remove the key in the ignition 2 times WITHIN 5 seconds (do not turn it)Within 40 seconds:3) Close then open the driver's door twice.4) Insert the key into the ignition and remove (do not turn key).5) Close then open the driver's door twice.6) Insert key into the ignition (do not turn it).7) Close driver's door.8) Turn key to "ON" position (do not crank vehicle), then of "OFF" position.9) Remove key - The door locks should cycle indicating it has entered programming mode.To program the FOB once it has entered programming mode:1) Push and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK button on the new FOB for 1.5 seconds. As soon as you let go you immediately press and hold the LOCK button for 2 seconds.2) Door locks with cycle indicating successful programming of the new FOB. Repeat step 1 for FOB if multiple keys are being programmed.3) Once everything is complete, open the driver's door. Congrats, you've saved yourself from getting someone else to program this for you!
