It works great, and has helped us verify that fibers are able to at least pass light. Also found a fiber where it was broken right at the connector, so it saved us from having to run the fiber, and then replace it. The switch, or rather the amount of movement to turn it on, off, and set to a blinking light could be a little larger. On position is on top, off in the center, and blinking on the bottom of the switch. Sometimes when turning the light off it goes right past the off position to blinking. Minor issue compared to the value it adds.

Ordered 6 of these for a few guys at work. All worked and seems like good quality except for the cap which I see breaking off in a few months. Tested with 7900 meters of fiber and it had good strong light at the end so im sure they'll push 15 km

Naysayers will always be there. Maybe it's the competition writing false information.Anws, in my case it works fine. I always put it back in the pouch/case that came with it once I'm done using it and I ensure it's switched off properly. I use Duracell batteries and it's BRIGHTER than the one my employer (leading isp in Canada) provided. Just take care of your tools and it'll work and it's good material externally

Well built aluminum housing, very bright light , it has no trouble completely lighting up a 900 fiber strand , a slight bend in 2.9mm jacketed fiber And! If you wrap a 3-4mm (white) fiber patch cord over your finger , with the room lights off , you can see light to identify your strand !I have not tested if it will send light the full 30 km , but judging by the light output ive seen , i think it would be visible at a conector , hope this helps your decision! Very happy with mine!

This is a great VFL. The light is very bright. The only down side is the cheap little flip cover that covers the light port when not in use. I've purchased 4 of these VFL's and the little covers didn't last a month on any of them. Just keep them in a clean container and clean them with a 1-click before each use and they work great'
