This is perfect on so many levels...I use it for baking sourdough bread...perfect size for bread proofed in 9" banneton or about 900 grams to 950 grams of dough...the sides are there to support your dough during the first 20 minutes of rising in the oven so that your dough rises up instead of spreading out which can be a problem with high hydration dough...This little gem gives your bread that professional bakery style, rounded from the bottom look...extremely pleased with my purchase...thank you Amazon for fast delivery...item arrived in perfect condition...

I love this pan, I have multiple cast iron pans and pots, most Lodge but also other brands cheaper or much more expensive. This oblong pan is very useful for my little family. It's good to roast vegetables, bake a small chicken or some fish. I also did one home made bread in it with great results. As all cast iron it needs a little respect, as it you need to hand wash them and dry them quickly after that. A little oil spread, put them in the oven at the highest temperature and that's all. This little pan is easy to clean, it's practically non stick. Being on the small size it's not at all heavy.

Love this gratin dish by Lodge and so unusual to find one in cast iron.
