Within minutes of installing this, the top of the knob broke off. Nothing was done to it prior, I just went to put my gator into gear and it popped off.

It fit on a MTD mower. Solid plastic knob, not a hollow knob it replaced.

The works on my JD LX173, but it felt lighter than the original part. Mind you, once it's attached to the gearshift, you don't notice the difference. I just believe that with most things, the high-quality parts have more substance to them. I will see how this works into the next mowing season and may adjust my review up or down.
