The product detail indicates this fits the 2001 Nissan Frontier. However, there are at least two different styles of tailgate handles for this year. On my Frontier, the name "NISSAN" is molded into the tailgate handle cover near the top and there is no emblem. The correct style for my truck isn't available at all that I've found. The emblem needed for this style cover is not included and must be purchased separately if you have the molded NISSAN letters on your tailgate cover.I was not able to install this cover at all without modification because the clips provided are smaller than the original as shown in the photo.The handle works by pulling rods attached to the latching mechanisms on both sides of the tailgate. The problem is that the clips that hold those rods in place are too small in diameter and can't be attached to the rods at all. The photo shows the difference in the clip from the original on the left, and the clip from the new / flawed handle on the right. Even if the holes in the clips could be enlarged, the fit would likely be too tight and make the handle / latch too stiff and difficult to operate.There are a number of sellers of this part, and I suspect the parts are all sourced from the same manufacturer with this flaw. I've seen this exact issue on more than just this brand.Since there's a difference in the cover, it is possible that the rod diameter also varies. The point being that the clips with this cover aren't usable in all of the models / years indicated.If the "L" shaped part and clips on your original cover is still usable, the easiest solution would be to just swap out this "L" shaped part - put your original on the new tailgate latch cover.If you still have your original tailgate handle but the "L" shaped piece is not usable, you may also be able to remove the old clips to reuse them on the new / flawed tailgate handle. The clips are not easy to remove or replace, so what should be an easy 5 minute job becomes an unnecessary exercise in frustration. You may need to drill or ream out the hole in this metal part as well to install the old clips in the new part.If you find this is the case on your truck, be sure to verify the latch works smoothly before putting it all back together. If the clips you use are too tight, operation will be difficult and increase wear on the small plastic clips.

Product shipped quickly and at a much better price than local parts house. Only two problems. Kit did not include any adhesive product to transfer the Nissan badge from the old to the new. Second problem was the holes and clips for the latch connector rods. Provided holes were too small for the rods on my 2002 Frontier and I broke the clips before I realized this. I had to drill the holes out with a 1/4” bit and salvage the clips from my old tailgate latch.
