Used this on a Ford EcoSport traveling from Nebraska to Pennsylvania. also purchased the metal basket that bolts onto the roof crossbars. Everything worked like a charm. No slippage.

I actually bought 2 plastic storage containers, about 6 inches tall, 18 x 30(??)I have a subaru forester for reference.I use soft bag luggage as they are light weight. I m traveling auto train n have height restriction.I put a bed incontinence pad on roof over glass ..The containers I feel will protect the glass as weight is distributed..After checking in house how things would fit, I was ready for loading.Truthful, I filled my luggage up with blankets as a test run...I have 4 bags 2 big n 2 small..I had lots of extra strap lengthSo this will go on a bigger vehicleZipper if very secureIt's water proof but I still but my bags in plastic trash bags ..As far as using this each nite at motelI will not as I can't reach wellIt's to carry my stuff for destination. My road trip motel items are in a soft bag in car...I prefer soft luggage light weight bags for road trips.Air flight I use heavy duty suitcases.

We went on a 3 days camping trip (4 people inside a sedan). This (15 cu ft) held one intex explorer k2 and one intex excursion 4 boat, and still have rooms for sleeping bags and life jackets. I like the black/matte color which is kind of low profile and looks cool. The straps are one-piece from left to right, so when tightened, they do not tear the bag. There was actually thunderstorms on our trip (hwy 395 july 31-2022), and the inside was still dry. I drove at about 75 mph and there was no noticeable noise at all. However, it does not come with an anti-slip mat. I had to buy one seperately

We used this carrier (so far) for a roughly 1200 mile winter road trip and it held up well. We have a compact car and used the included door-frame hooks, which are well designed. Prepare to be aggravated by the straps -- they are tricky to adjust and need to be adjusted depending on the contents / shape of the bag. The aggravation seems worth it, though; the bag didn't budge so much as an inch when fully secured. Straps and clips are of good quality and included smartly velcro flaps to secure the loose ends -- no flapping straps!Road noise was negligible and almost non-existant on the outbound leg at speeds of ~70 mph -- coming back, the bag was fuller/taller and packed differently and was a bit noisier. Pretty quiet overall at We drove in the rain for part of our trip and everything stayed dry. The carrier itself is pretty understated and didn't look as awkward on the car as I expected.Recommend you pack a small folding step stool in the car to make loading/unloading easier!

Drove from Ohio to North Carolina with this on top of our Nissan Altima. Worked great. Everything stayed dry in the rain. We made sure to tie the straps so they weren’t flapping everywhere. It was super easy to put on the top of the car. It fit everything for the week for 5 people. Including some food, beach chairs, a wagon, beach toys, towels and all of our luggage. We had zero room in the car so everything had to go in the trunk or on top of the car. It was way roomier than I expected. I would buy again!!
