I've used these many times over the years on a large Pin Oak tree. In our area, mature Pin Oaks often die due to severe iron deficiency. Medicap has kept my tree alive for over 30 years. I usually use them every second year.Installation is pretty easy - you can do the full 10-pack in 20 or 25 minutes. Just be sure to drill to the correct depth and ensure that you've fully seated the cartridge into the hole in the tree trunk. You'll need something to drive it in - I use an old 3/8" bolt.

My silver maple is about 35 years old and has a trunk that measures more than 4' around. The rest of my property is pretty sparse, so this tree really makes the house and the yard very special.About 5 years ago, a couple of big branches broke off in the wind. It looked like 1/3 of the tree was dead or dying from chlorosis. The soil in this area is so alkaline, no amount of soil amendments were going to save it.When I ordered these plugs, I thought I'd need 100+ for such a big tree. I wasn't sure they would even work. So I started with 30 the first year. I added another 10-20 this past autumn. And the tree looks better than it ever has.No more pale green leaves and brittle branches.I'll continue with a course of maintenance and install 10 or so plugs each year. The plug holes grew over within a year, and the tree doesn't seem to be suffering any ill effects because of the drill holes.I can't recommend this highly enough. My success has encouraged me to plant 3 more silver maples. I'll be sure to install these plugs in them when they're large enough, and prevent them from ever getting so depleted of iron.

I'm now buying my second round of these for my 3 Maples. Very easy to install, just drill the appropriate size hold and pound it in. I wrapped masking tape around the bit as a mark to make sure I was drilling to the appropriate depth. All three of my trees greened up within a month and look much healthier. Now it's almost 2 years later and the leaf tips are yellow again- will re- treat and I expect the same good results.

Compré tres equipos de los cuales dos no sale agua y del que sí sale, el agua sabe muy mal, sabe a pescado crudo. Necesito solución o mi dinero de vuelta. Quedo pendiente.

I have used these in the past, to help out a Silver Maple in my own yard, and found them to be an excellent tree saver! I recommend them to neighbors who have the same problem too.In 2014, I bought this package for my daughter's 50 year old Silver Maple tree that was in terrible shape. The leaves on over half the tree had turned yellow prematurely, and several branches had already died. When I told her why this happens - poor soil and not enough iron in the soil to feed the tree, or her grass - she was wasn't sure what to do. I told her to hire a tree service to cut the dead branches off so they wouldn't break off and fall on her house, her cat (who sleeps under the tree regularly), cars, or passing pedestrians. The damage those big branches could do was not covered by her home owners insurance, since it's something she can control with knowledge on how and would be excluded from a claim, and she'd likely loose her insurance over it and be sued big time too, if the branches hurt someone. She did hire a tree service to cut the dead branches off and do an iron injection treatment. These helped a lot, though I still saw some yellowing later in the summer, despite what they did. They told her the injection treatment would be necessary annually. I told her the injections would likely need doing 3 times a year for the next couple years, to make up for the deficiency it has likely suffered for some time. She said she can't afford to do that. So, I ordered these, hoping to save her from having to hire the tree service to do the injections - at a much more expensive price no less. I told her to put these in instead and see what happens next year. They really helped save my own Silver Maple from turning yellow last year and this one too; so I know they will do the same thing for her tree.If you have yellowing of leaves on any of your trees and bushes, the first thing you should do is research. Then call your local state Extension Office and see what they might know and suggest. Mine (in CO) said to get soil testing and and hire an arborist. I did both and was very glad I did. I ended up treating my trees and bushes, and all my gardens with iron supplements and an organic fertilizer. This year, I removed all the landscape rock from under the bushes (which over heats the roots of the bushes), added organic compost to everything (landscape and grass yards) and then put down organic mulch under the bushes and trees. I'm sure everything will look much better next spring and I won't need to use and artificial fertilizers. If my Silver Maple (which I would replace with something native if I could afford to) turns yellow again, I won't hesitate to order these put them in the my tree.
