These little alarms could potentially help you save a lot of money in the event of a water leak, but I do worry about their reliability. They're very small and basic, and will malfunction if immersed in water beyond a few millimetres. If that happens, water will enter the device and short it out, which is not ideal. You therefore need to be careful where you site the device. If I want real peace of mind and a fully reliable alarm I think it reasonable to invest more in better quality alarms. You can get app linked alarms these days, by the way, and they send alerts to your smart phone. This one just sounds an alarm, so you need to be within earshot for it to be any use.CONCLUSIONFor non-critical uses these are okay. If you are protecting thousands of pounds worth of home and contents, pay more and buy something better.

These are basic but functional water alarms that could well save you a lot of money and effort.They come with small 12V batteries already fitted and ready to go, although they claim to have a 12 month battery life. Is that from manufacture or purchase, as they are "on" once made?The shell has three metal prongs for feet, and any two making contact through water or even a moist hand will trigger them. It's a fairly loud alarm from the "bugle" as the instructions put it, and will certainly warn you when water has pooled beneath it. You must make allowances for condensation though, as this can trigger it if bad enough.Easy to replace the battery and as long as it doesn't get into water over 5mm or so, won't get affected internally.
