This metronome inspires mixed feelings in me. It's a good bit of gear, to be sure, but certainly not the highest of quality.I love the clear body, as it lets you explore the mechanics inside of the metronome (the bottom is also removable if you're extra curious). The bell feature is also great, allowing for groupings of 2, 3, 4, or 6 beats with an accent on the downbeat. However, a few things hold this back from being truly exceptional. First, I'm not a fan of the tempo panel; the white plastic and the font choice both leave something to be desired. More importantly, the tempo is ever-so-slightly off compared to the markings. I measured half a dozen different tempos, and all were 1-2 bpm off (some slower, some faster)*; if you're a professional looking to lock in an absolute tempo for technical work it might be better to stick to digital. It does give a steady beat, though, so works great for students and younger musicians developing their internal feel, or anyone who just needs to approximate a tempo.Last nitpick: the feet on the bottom seem to be designed to accommodate anti-slip pads (silicone/rubber), but are just bare plastic.Great choice for someone looking for a nice basic analog metronome; just don't expect it to use it as an absolute reference.* [To be fair, differences of 1-2bpm are generally imperceptible to the VAST majority of musicians...but metronomes are supposed to be perfect.]

It’s a little loud but good for piano

The design is really cute and I love the color. It is extremely loud but it has a weird echo after every tick. Sadly, I had to return as it just did not fulfill what I needed.

When I saw this old-fashioned, wind-up metronome, I knew I had to have it. When it came in, I unboxed it. It was very well protected, and larger than I thought. But that was a good thing! While this metronome came with instructions, and you should follow them, its operation is common sense. While the wind-up knob was self-explanatory, I wondered what the pull knob above it was. The instructions said "bell tone selector." See attached image. After carefully winding the metronome, it was time to try it out. To operate this unit, you have to remove the protective front casing. Then, you must remove the factory protective foam on the slide bar. Move the weight up or down the bar to select your speed, and then you're ready. I pulled the "bell tone selector" to try it out. Then, I picked up my violin and started the metronome. To my delight, the "bell tone selector" made it so that the metronome, in addition to its accustomed beat, gives a pleasant chime! To me, this is an awesome feature, as I'm hard of hearing. Plus, it's neat! This is a great, first-rate metronome that should give long service. Recommend.

I was ready to get into learning piano, and wanted to get a metronome to play along to—but while I loved the look of this particular timekeeper, I could never recommend it, considering it can't...keep time.Pros: It looks awesome! The transparent plastic body allowing you to see the entirely mechanical operations within is awesome. But...Cons: ...for a metronome, it doesn't work. When dropping down to really slow tempos, the fourth beat of every measure is laughably late. I'm no musical expert, but I have enough of an ear to identify such a ridiculously poor sense of tempo. Note that the problem isn't detectable, if even present, at faster (more standard) tempos. But I'm a beginner, so I'm starting slow—and thanks to its poor construction, this metronome confuses timing more than it clarifies.
