We use these when traveling in our RV where cell coverage may be spotty at best.Great to keep track of everyone.You will need an FCC GMRS license to operate on some of the frequencies. Page 3 of the manual.Part of why I like these is that I have a GMRS license and they integrate w/ other radios we have.Another great feature is you can us the battery pack that is rechargeable or regular batteries!

It's strange: the lock feature does lock some of the buttons (volume, menu), but not the call button, which is very loud and obnoxious for our use. Was very surprised to discover this. Call button can be pressed when in a pocket or backpack: annoying.Otherwise, we've really enjoyed them.

These worked great for the first few days. Now they do now work at all. Originally purchased so that my father and I could communicate when I was not right next to him. He had been in the hospital for over a month so when he came home I needed something easy to use and reliable. Due to going back to the hospital I missed out on the return window. These were easy to use. The range is no where close to what it said it was. There was also a lot of other conversations heard. Switching channels there was still interference. I would invest your money into a different product. I am super bummed that these didn’t last.
