Not particularly sturdy, but it's inexpensive and pretty to look at. We use it as a prop for biology graduation pictures and it does the job fine. Note that it comes without assembly instructions, so you have to figure things out. (One of the backbones will twist in the opposite direction from its natural tendency, because both backbones come spooled together. It doesn't show once the molecule is assembled, though).Also be careful: the current photo has DNA turning the wrong way; it should be a right-handed helix.

A little flimsy, does not split in order to demonstrate DNA, it is a static model to simply observe/show the structure of DNA. You get what you pay for- in this case it is a fair value.
