I should have paid attention to some of the other reviews. It is okay but nib is not as smooth asI would like.

I am satisfied. I have not yet had the opportunity to write with this fountain pen, I am sure that everything will be fine.

my second Monteverde pen, so I know what to expect. The B nib is extremely hard starting, to the point that I am yet to get a complete letter out of it. The flow of ink is at best tortured, and inconsistent.

Cartridge won't go in. Converter won't stay in place. It writes terribly. This is the only broad nib pen I have so cannot compare the same. Other pens I have are writing properly, however. After trying a few weeks, I believe the pen is no good for me. The ink flow is bad and need a lot of pressure to get a stroke. The converter still unseated itself. Will no longer consider this brand for any pens.

I almost gave this pen three stars but its behaviour improved so it warrants 4 stars, just. Out of the box it was scratchy and hard-starting with Waterman Serenity blue ink in the supplied converter. The nib improved somewhat when I switched to Monteverde blue and Pilot's Iroshizuku Shin-kai. The nib is labelled Medium but writes more like a Fine, especially compared to a Lamy medium. I have the gunmetal/red version of the Impresa and it was way better out of the box despite having an EF nib. The new gold/black version felt a bit cheap when disassembling. The large number of cartridges, 12 black, 12 multicoloured plus a blue and black in the pen box was a bonus, as was the 30ml bottle of Monteverde black ink. It's worth persevering with but there are better pens out there at the price point (Sailor, for instance, albeit in plastic rather than partially metal) and it'll be worthwhile if I can find a better nib. At the price of the cartridges and ink the pen was really only AU$20-30 but then I have little use for so much black, preferring blue-black.
