Perfect for our grandson with an adult helper., aside from needing a NOT INCLUDED rock hammer and chisel. Smashing with a regular hammer may be fun and satisfying, but it is not educational. Splitting the geode is educationalThe instructions and 10 geodes were wonderful. We've opened two so far, one a regular geode, and one basically a rock. Our six year old grandson helped us score the outside, when he got bored and left, I could carefully split both: the geode basically down the middle with a displayable piece and lots of fragments; the rock, I split off a hunk that showed the crystals that were the rockBe sure to also order rock hammer and chisel, which increased educational possibilities. The one I bought came with goggles, so we could both protect our eyes.

Muy divertido. Ojo para abrirlo es necesario que ayude un adulto, pues las geodas hay que romperlas con martillo. Si lo haces con cuidado te quedan bonitas. Solo falta pulir las orillas.

Great set but be warned, these are quite hard to open. With the regular hammer, I probably had to hit it for a good 20min! I guess it attests to their authenticity

El articulo y la informacion es buena, muy bonita la caja y el contenido, solo que las piedras si son dificiles de romper, tiene que hacerlo un adulto y con mucho cuidado

My daughter loves National Geographic sets. This set was fantastic fun and she received a number of beautiful geodes, book, protective glasses, magnifier and plastic stands. A great value set and so interesting for young prospective geologists. Well packaged and arrived quickly.

Great activity! I bought this for my nephew’s 7th birthday. He loves crystals and I liked that this included an activity as well as the crystals themselves. Grandpa set up the kids (7 & 8) each with Their own hammer and goggles and they had such fun smashing them open! As an activity this gets 10/10. Glad I went for the 10 geodes, that gave them a good chance to keep busy for a while.I’d say the only downside was that all the crystals were the same colour - white - not like on the box where all the beautiful colours were shown. So that was a bit disappointing but I guess you can’t tell what’s inside by looking at the rock. All the same, a fun activity for the kids and I’d recommend this.

Son muy lindas (una vez que las puedas abrir), necesitarás de muuuuucha paciencia y perseverancia (además de una especie de cinsel y martillo). Mi hija de 6 le terminó dando flojera tanta espera y la martilló en varios pedazos.
