The day I was laid off, my washing machine broke. So, there I was, taking it apart and trying to diagnose the problem in the dark of night. I have a Whirlpool Cabrio, which is about 8 years old. After going back and forth between the machine and my computer, I narrowed it down to this piece: an actuator that shifts the machine from agitate to spin. No one locally had this piece, so I ordered it through Amazon. Once it came, I installed it, and it worked great. No more clicking, and the machine operates normally. The only issue I ran into is that Whirlpool made the screws used to seat it too shallow. So, I had to tap out larger holes and install thicker screws. But that isn't a problem with the part, but with Whirlpool. This is a great buy. It gave my washing machine more years of life. And spending $40 to $50 for a repair is way better than the hundreds it would take to replace it.

Bought this part and replaced it even though I wasn't sure why my washing machine wasn't working.My Whirlpool washing machine froze mid-cycle the other night and wouldn't run again even after starting a new cycle. It was stuck on 'sensing' and made a clicking noise every second and would not run at all. Hearing the noise come from the bottom, I decided it might be the shift actuator so I decided to buy this replacement.After replacing it and recalibrating the washing machine, it run just fine and actually works even better than before.My washer was 11 years old and replacing this part saved me hundreds on calling a tech or spending over a thousand on a new washer.
