This is quite useful for taking photos of small items. It's made from a black woven material, with a reflective silver finish internally. The box edges are held together with Velcro-style hook & loop strips - it's crude, but works well enough. The LED light panels with their diffusers provide relatively even 5600k daylight-equivalent illumination. There are two problem-areas which could have been overcome with a little more thought in the product's design:1. The black Velcro edge-fixings (and to an extent the box's black base material) cause serious issues when photographing shiny subjects such as silverware. The black edges contrast strongly with the silvery internal surfaces - you can see the effect in Amazon & Neewer's product photos - and cause pronounced reflections in the subject's shiny surface. As a result it's almost impossible to get good results for this type of subject. The reflections could easily have been made less visible if Neewer had used a white or light grey coloured material instead of black for the Velcro and box base material.2. The retainers for the plastic backdrops - a length of elastic at the top and an extra strip of reflective material (rippled on my sample) at the front - are poor, and simply not strong enough to hold the backdrop in place. As a result the backdrop's vertical section sags under its own weight, which causes a pronounced darker area in the background just above the transition from the back to the base. Replacing the length of elastic with small spring clips might have avoided this problem.

Having looked at many and various light boxes I finally took the plunge and ordered this Neewer box. It's a good size (16x11x11 inches) and copes well with most small + medium subjects to photograph. The diffused LED lighting is nice, bright, and adjustable, and takes the stress out of photographing highly reflective objects. The backgrounds supplied (4 colours, black, white, grey and peach) are hardwearing and easy to use. One criticism is the use of really coarse Velcro - it's everywhere! Setting this up anywhere away from home is really quite noisy and intrusive in any setting, and the Velcro is determined to adhere to anything with wool, towelling, man made fibres. Zips would be a better solution. Probably needs to be £10-15 more (or looking at it another way - half as much again from original price) to get better quality for assembly and in use. These are certainly way better than the awful white cubes that are sold - I still have two of those and their pop-up sprung loaded frames can be quite dangerous - I still haven't been forgiven for, to use the vernacular, "smacking my wife in the gob" whilst trying to put the cube back in it's bag! So, all in all, a fairly priced and useful addition to my photographic arsenal.

I'd expected a lot from this. After all, the Neewer brand is almost synonymous with astonishingly superb quality. But, even with such high expectations, this light box dazzled me (pun intended) because it has SO many useful features! As an artist and journalist, I take a lot of photos of products, including things that I buy (and review) as well as art that I create. So, a light box seemed like something I should own. When it arrived, I was... well, "astonished" doesn't go far enough. This light box is amazingly well-designed.First of all, it sets up in minutes. I didn't even need to look at the instructions. (It also folds back down, easily, to a size that's easy to carry and - on location - fits in my smallest art carryall.)Then, the (included) various color inserts cover a wonderful array of shades for different photo projects. The light is infinitely adjustable, from dim to bright. And then there are the camera options: I can photograph from overhead. Or from the front through a good-sized opening. Or I can drop the front panel altogether, to photograph something larger (albeit with less reflected light).I've attached a photo that I took spontaneously, just to see how this light box works. (I'm currently working with Yes Paste, for my collage art, so that was at hand.) As you can see, even with the grey background and no planning at all, the product looks great. The lighting provided the exact emphasis I wanted, as well.)For me, this is at least a five-star product. I didn't know how much I needed this for my work, but - apparently - Neewer read my mind and created the perfect light box.
