We have used Dymo label makers for years. They have always performed as or better than expected; very reliable. When I went to order the label cassettes last time, I started thinking the "Dymo" brand named labels seemed overpriced as compared to the generic ones. Half the time, you are only paying tor the name, right? (Not in this case.) So I bought several sizes and colors (black on white and clear) Upon using these for the first time, the print came out light and uneven, sometimes "stripey", sometimes parts of letters were missing. At first I blamed the label maker itself- it hadn't been used in a few weeks, maybe it just needed to "warm up". Nope. Still blaming the machine- maybe it was dying or dirty. I put new batteries in it, and cleaned the print head. Labels continued to print inconsistently. Maybe the machine didn't like this size or color (1/2" black on white) so I tried different label cassettes. Crappy labels continued to spit out of my label maker. To add to my frustration, the label maker had started to jam CONSTANTLY. It wasn't until I found a "Dymo" brand name cassette in the office supply nether region that I realized my machine had been falsely accused. Curious, I put it in the label maker and hit print. Perfect, beautiful sharp dark letters appeared from my device, filling me with joy and shame. It was the labels all along- Not my beloved label maker! Just to be certain, I put another of these "no name" cassettes in and hit print. The wonky, greyed-out type was all I needed to see. There are lots of places to save money- unfortunately, this isn't one of them.

I've ordered other inexpensive Dymo replacement tapes and the polyester is much better than the vinyl. I will be using these as my go-to from here out.
