I have considered several different location options to fit that AC port and to me, I felt it was the best choice. Now that I'm using it in winter time, I thank myself for that decision. Its really practical and cheap to do. I've connected that outlet to the engine block heater.I must point out though that I've added a screwing disc, having holes matching the NOCO outlet screw pattern, underneath the plastic trim. That way, the screws are much more secure threading through nearly 1/2 inch of material. Still, this is a nice product worth considering.

I'm a fan of NOCO products but this particular purchase has been very disappointing. As ordered and received, this was seemingly the best engineered and best looking 'shore power' socket that I could find to fit to my car, to support the use of NOCO's on-board battery maintainer (the GENIUS 2D).This morning, just two weeks after fitting it and less than a dozen connection/disconnection cycles, the earth pin has sheared off. The rust on the screw fittings seen in the attached photos might suggest that it has been in place longer but that's another issue with another Amazon purchase - 'corrosion resistant' screws..And lest anyone think that this was down to the plug that I chose to use it with, I was using NOCO's own (pictured), since I live in the UK and the GENIUS 2D I bought came with a UK mains plug. I cut the US female plug from the end of this port, to use it on the end of an extension lead, which was then plugged into the port.I'd return it, were it not for the double whammy of a return of a US Amazon purchase and the time and materials taken to fit it into the vehicle in the first place. It's not critical, as the battery maintainer is double insulted and doesn't have an earth connection anyway.
