I was given one of these 40yrs ago by my grandad. Now I have one at work and at home. Always been a great steel while out hunting.

Product is interesting I see that most folks are torn on this item vs the older ones . In truth it works great just as intended however it's better for high carbon steel (not) high carbon stainless so for anyone who uses this on a knife made of harder than high carbon will notice it will damage this product and cut into it as if it's made of aluminum. example being my crkt m16 sf made from aus 8 will cut the honesteel but my cold steel Bushman or opinel no12 will skate across it and home up

Good leather quality and tool will do the job however must be resurfaced and sharpened properly of the chissle tip. Otherwise nice tool.Update: I discovered this tool sparks when struck on english flint. Now I have a new firesteel :)
