Seems to have slip past their QC because I have good connections between the keyboard and motherboard but still a dead keyboard

Took me 2 hours and I bought a separate tool set off Amazon. This is definitely hard. I had to hot glue part of the keyboard to the frame. It was fine. U really need to take the rivets out completely. It comes with smaller screws that will fit in the holes if u take the rivets out. Because I didn’t realize this. I had a bunch of rivets on the top that I couldn’t pull out. So I ended up hot gluing the top of my keyboard or else the keyboard would have pushed in at the top.

The product was as advertised so no complaints and didn't ask for my money back. However, this has become non-trivial to fix, e.g. 2-4 hours of significant effort working with screws with heads about 1mm-2mm. You should watch a video to get an idea of what you are in for. I've repaired plenty of laptops in the past starting in the 90s and have done simple repairs like battery replacements on recent MacBooks but this entails disassembly of the whole laptop and destructively pulling apart the inside shielding. MacBooks are no longer a user repairable item beyond the battery. Indeed most repair shops will not even repair keyboards if you call them. If your keyboard is dead you're likely better off just buying a new laptop and getting the applecare.
