incredible comfort, lightweight, and breathable. Only few reasons I gave it a 4 stars is first, there is only one pocket on one side so it makes it feel somewhat unbalanced. Second is I've only had them for about two weeks and I already have a sizeable rip in the inseam of the right thigh. Third the have nothing on teaching on HOW to tie them properly or even a YouTube link to a video to show you how to tie them.

I have bought 5 different brands of thai fishermen pants now. They make a comfortable, more durable substitute to sweat pants if you can deal with strings instead of elastic. Although as they shrink the fabric often starts to slide out of the string because there isn't enough tucked over it anymore. I had to add a clip on the pocket side of older pairs. Handwashing and line drying will reduce or completely prevent them shrinking but I have nowhere to line dry and no interest in handwashing. I just machine wash in a front load washer very carefully. This is the thinnest material I've gotten so far. In fact I almost worry they might be a bit see through in sunlight. They almost are when I look at them from the inside in a bright room. They also are starting the shortest with less ability to adjust them because they have a more specific fit to the amount of cloth that goes over top of the strings in order to make the 2 tone effect. You can't as easily just let more material hang down to have more leg. 1 wash and these are going to be above my ankles and I'm 5'3.Most people complain about a lot more shrinkage than I get with these types of pants and machine washing. I'm very careful to wash them cold on delicate with biodegradable mild detergents meant for cold washed natural fabrics and then take the time to run multiple low and no heat dryer cycles. I still lose a little bit of length and waist every time I wash this style of pants. Having them start already shorter is going to speed that up and if you aren't careful you'll likely have a pair of shorts with possibly just 1 washing and drying.Although the fact they don't have much length to shrink when washed repeatedly may not be an issue given the thin fabric is probably going to rip in about 1-2 years depending how much I wear them. My thinnest pair prior to these was at least twice the material and lasted about 3 years before fabric near a seam thinned enough to rip. They were looking rather beat up by then and barely had enough material to fold over at the waist anymore. One of my 2 thickest pairs is approaching 5 years old and is now as short as this brand starts so I can't pull the material up as high when I fold them over and still keep them at my ankle but they have plenty of material left to let them sit lower with only a little sign of wear. Sadly that seller no longer exists, which is why I bought other brands to test out.I don't recommend these over other brands or sellers unless you just want to sacrifice other things for the color effect. The material does seem considerably cheaper with less ability to adjust them but no reduction in cost. One of the selling points of this type of pants is the one size fits all because you can just pull up or fold over more or less fabric. These are not quite designed the same as the truly authentic thai pants I originally bought straight from a small family business in Thailand. Those are still almost the same as new despite machine washing.Update: I was overly optimistic. These barely surpassed a week of just sitting and walking around inside. The thin material has already ripped away from the seam on one leg. Do not buy this brand.

I traveled to Thailand in 2007. These pants are better quality than the ones I bought when I was there.Top notch!

I've worn clothes made in India for 30 years. Living in the hot southwest, kurtas and light cotton pants make a lot of sense. They are easily hand washed and dried overnight. However, recently my suppliers in India started outsourcing, and the quality, size, and consistency of materials became erratic even as the prices got higher. So I saw these 'Thai Fisherman Pants' and thought I would give them a try, given their very reasonable price. They are comfortable, easy to wear, and air dry quickly, though some might prefer machine drying so they come out softer. One caution when purchasing: make sure you check the seller reviews. The same images are used by various different sellers. The first time I tried to buy some, I neglected to do this and the seller was shipping from Thailand, and over a year they had a consistent rating of only 25% positive. After waiting 2 months I never received them. The next time I made sure to check the seller ratings, made sure they were stocked by Amazon, and I got them quickly.

Good price. Not insanely high quality, but very good for the price. DO NOT machine wash...wash by hand.
