I was a little surprised at how large these were once I got them. They weren't exactly what I was looking for. But I am going to make them do. My whole goal was trying to actually not use them for mailers, but to use them for storing different papers and important information that I need. There is nothing that secures them together. There's no flaps, or anything that you can tuck the flaps into. So you're definitely going to have to use some packing tape to get these to stick together. The way they display them being originally used in the stock photo, I couldn't do it that way...because I would always have to have tape being ripped off and on...on a regular basis to get into them. So I decided to secure them in a way where I could actually use the flap on the side as an opening; and I can tuck it in when I need to secure it closed. Then it'll be easy for me just to reach in and open it up. (See photo.) Not sure where I'm going to store these? They're a little too big to put in any kind of file folder. But I will find some place to store my information that I need.

Over the years I have shipped thousands of record albums through the mail. I'm always looking for sturdy cardboard mailers like these in which I can snugly and securely fit a record with the album jacket then ship it through the US mail without having it be damaged. The mails can be rather rough on packages and the mailer needs to be able to sustain bumping, bending, bouncing, and having other packages landing on top of it.Don't think however that you can just stick a record album inside one of these mailers without carefully packaging the record within the mailer before shipment. If you just put the record in the mailer loose without any additional protection you are asking for trouble. Here's what I do: I will remove the record and the inner sleeve from the record jacket then place all three of those now separate pieces between two pieces of thick cardboard that are exactly the same size, 12 inches by 12 inches. Then I will take sturdy paper and wrap the sandwich of the record with the cardboard securely around it inside several layers of paper with tape to adhere the package together. Once you have done that the cardboard and paper wrapped album will fit quite snugly inside the mailer with no space to shift-you don't want the record to have any room whatsoever to move or get shaken around.Perhaps you are wondering why I'll take the records out of their sleeves and jackets? Most record collectors don't wonder about that, in fact, they expect it. Here's why: if you are shipping records loose inside the album jackets and they can move around in there they can also slice into the inner sleeves and even into the album jackets if they get bounced around. Sure, you want the record to arrive in good shape but you also need to protect the inner sleeve and the album cover. You want them all to stay in good condition. Once you tear the sleeves/jackets if they have art and/or lyrics associated with a particular LP you have damaged the entire sound package and thus devalued it. It is worth it to take these extra precautions when packing your records. These mailers are comparable to most better quality mailers you'll find on the market. These will ship one LP per mailer efficiently. In regard to price points; these mailers have been going up in price over the last several years. When buying this type of mailer in bulk you'll usually get better prices if you order larger quantities. Typically in bulk one can expect to pay at least a dollar apiece for this type of mailer unless you are buying a whole lot of them. These mailers were shipped to me in the quantity of 25 mailers. The price point comes out to nearly two dollars each. That breaks out at the high end in regard to the usual current price points. They are not substantially better or worse than comparable mailers. In this quantity of 25 mailers the price probably is about 25% higher than what you might pay if you shopped around for comparable mailers at a lower price and in this quantity.Amazon shipped them out quickly. If you are looking for speed and convenience and you are not interested in spending extra time shopping for less expensive mailers in this quantity then these should work out well for you.
