I have a few farm trucks that occasionally require non-routine maintenance as they get older. Considering their age, it’s often difficult to find exact replacement parts. In these situations, I’m required to fabricate my own. In this case, it was very simple. I wanted to replace some elbows for some vacuum lines in my 1996 Ford F-150 with the 4.9L inline six cylinder engine. The purge valve has two elbows with a 10mm inner diameter that go around a not-so-flexible hose running to a tee and one to the vapor canister charcoal canister. These elbows were very badly dry rotted and disintegrating to powder as you touched them.This elbow was a good value and seems to be the same material and quality as the original (although I can’t be sure since the original are so badly dry rotted). I expected them to last at least 25 years, as the originals did. After removing the elbow piece from its bag, I used a razor blade to cut through the middle creating two 90 degree elbows right angles for my application. There was no threading or binding or wiring running through the hose to reinforce the walls, so it was very easy to cut through. The elbows were very easy to install and fit perfectly. Used the truck for awhile and no codes came back, so it looks like everything’s working well!I’m very happy with this hose and think it’s priced very fairly for the quality. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a 10mm inner diameter hose for a similar purpose. Mine is working great for my vacuum hose replacement 90 degree elbows!
