ご存知のとおり、ペリカンのスーベレーンM800は、1997年にヨーロッパで開催された万年筆の初のコンクールで「ペン・オブ・ザ・イヤー」に輝いた逸品です。M800シリーズは緑縞や青縞、茶縞などの縞模様、ブルー・デューン、バーントオレンジなどの限定品、ロジウムメッキのM805シリーズなどがあります。評者はそれらのほとんどを持っている、万年筆蒐集家です。 さて、特徴についての所感です。 ペン先のしなりはドイツ製品特有の硬さがあります。アウロラなどのイタリアのに比べても硬く、パイロットのカスタム845よりもずっと硬いです。モンブランの149と同等かやや硬い感じがします。ドイツ語や英語のアルファベットは日本語に比べると直接的なので、書き味も直接的つまりトメ、ハネ、ハライなどの繊細さには欠けるところがあります。よく筆圧が高い人は力を抜いてとアドバイスされますが、あちらでは筆圧をかけて書く人が多くガリガリとアルファベットを書いていたりします。なので、ペン先は硬くて当然で、先のヨーロッパでのコンクールで栄誉に輝いた理由の一つかもしれません。これがM1000になると極端に柔らかくなり、パイロットのカスタムURUSHIほどになります。 インクフローは充分に良く、ペン先は紙をタイトに捉えて追従します。その乗りは、カスタム845に比べるとタイトです。845が魔法のペンと言われるように乗りが極めて良いので、比較するのはやや酷ですが。このクラスになるとどのペンもインクフローは充分であまりこだわることもない気がします。 字幅です。海外産は国産に比べると太い傾向があります。ペリカンも例に漏れず同じFでも国産よりも太いです。国産のMぐらいかそれ以上の太さです。国産が細いと言った方が良いかもしれません。画数が多い漢字を書くのもトメ、ハネ、ハライを表現するのも細い方が便利ですから。 胴体はセルロース（セルロイド）樹脂です。エボナイト樹脂に近い感触です。滑るとかは感じたことは無く普通に握るなら不都合は無いと思います。Mシリーズは型番が大きくなるほど口径が太くなります。長さが持て余す場合はキャップを付けずに握ってもバランスは悪くありません。そもそもヨーロッパの万年筆はキャップを外して書くように設計されているのが一般的です。国産はどちらかと言うとキャップを付けて書くように設計されていますがどちらでも対応できる万年筆も多いです。 以上、特徴について所感を書きましたが、いろんな万年筆を扱って来て思うには、このM800はとても優秀だと思います。インクフローは最初から最後まで変わらないし、ペン先のしなりも安定しています。先の賞を取るだけのことはあります。おすすめの一本です。

Mit dem M 800 hat Pelikan einen sehr guten Kolben-Füllfederhalter auf dem Markt. Das Griffstück liegt gut in der Hand und die Finger rutschen nicht auf die Feder. Die Goldfeder ist angenehm zu schreiben; auf die angegebene Federstärke kann man sich bei Pelikan kaum verlassen. Jedoch hat Pelikan einen sehr guten Service in diesem Bereich. Verglichen mit dem M 1000 ist die Feder kleiner und der Füller etwas handlicher. Der 1000-er bleibt jedoch das Flagship.

La Pelikan M800 è una delle più belle stilografiche in commercio. Scrive benissimo, solida, bel pennino. Ad un prezzo eccezionale. Manca la scatola ma per 100 euro in meno non si sente la mancanza.

In my past experience (I owned multiple premium pens), a pen that cost $400 (including tax) should come with a reasonably good box and looks decent. But what I got was a shabby, broken box (see picture). The pen is wrapped with a random plastic bag. No user manual. No certificate. Basically nothing in the box other than a pen.When I placed the order, I want to make sure that I buy something authentic. So I intentionally chose "Amazon Global Store UK". This is what they shipped to me. After I chatted with Amazon customer service, I was surprised to learn that this is actually not an Amazon branch, but a third party store. How come Amazon allowed a third party store to use such a misleading name?This is the worst experience I have ever had with Amazon.

This is a beautiful pen combining classic, great design and ultimate functionality. The former echoes the 1920s as well as the famous combination of form and function that typified the Bauhaus movement. So it is a thing of beauty but above all it writes beautifully. I am using Edelstein's wonderful Tanzanite ink and it is a joy to use. The ink flows freely and well through its beautiful nib. It has never let me down even where I leave it for weeks without use. It just writes and writes. You forget about it as you use it but then when you stop to gather your thoughts you are once again struck by its beauty and form and it compels you to start again. A joy and pleasure to use. Took me a while to save up for it but more than worth it. Definitely a pen to aspire to if you like or love fountain pens.I bought the EF nib which is a European extra fine so if you are used to Japanese fine nibs then you will find EF acceptable but not as fine as a Japanese version of fine.I tend not to post as it is big enough in the hand without the top being added to the back of the pen. If you buy the pen at a pen shop in the UK or Germany you will get it in a lovely presentation box but the vendor and you pay for this. So if you just want pen at a brilliant price go with Amazon. It will come into a simple plastic wrap in a cardboard box. That suited me. I wanted the pen not a fancy box. You can always buy a leather case or holder to protect your purchase.
