Absolutely love this shift but I do wish it was an extra inch bigger or so. For any Audi owners out there, buying this shifter did not require going out to buy the adapter, so if you're getting it for an AUDI like mine then it will save you a few bucks and possibly even keep that shorter throw, super eazy to install. Looks amazing. Nice quality feeling metal, just wish it was a little bight bigger and had more weight to it, but I also loved how I could attach the garment to it also. PS installed in AUDI A5 Quattro 2011

I'll be honest, I purchased this knob to "shorten" the shaft of the TH8A shifter by Thrustmaster, but for those looking to actually use this knob in their car, this is a well-machined hunk of metal that feels very comfortable and doesn't have any distracting/ugly pattern diagram. Below the knob itself is a sort of adjustable stopper that is honestly too loose but if you can lock it down with some threadlock or tape, you can adjust the height of just the knob itself to a higher position once it's installed. One thing to note, no matter how you're going to use this knob replacement, is that it comes with rubber bushings of different sizes (M8, M10, M12), but they are not threaded. It's ultimately a sock that you either slip onto the old shaft or twist onto it using the existing threads. Then you secure the knob's internal shaft (a metal tube threaded on the outside that stretches the entire length of the knob) by drving little allen screws deep into the rubber. THEN you can set the stopper and/or screw the knob onto it. Knowing this, you may want to look at an adapter of some sort if you're keen on threading, but I honestly don't know what the threading of the inner tube is. In all honesty, the bushings may not be ideal, but they work for pretty much any shaft within those sizes. Now, for those of you who want to do something like I did and want an easy, no-break modification of the TH8A shifter because you feel the shaft is too long, I can say that this is an EXCELLENT and very affordable way to do it. While the TH8A is arguably the best budget sim shifter out there, its design feels like old-school muscle cars with longer shafts than the more contemporary and arguably quicker short shifters in modern cars. This is partly because the shaft is indeed pretty long and partly because the knob adds a couple of inches to it easily, so you end up with a long travel time for your hands. Most people recommend just taking out the existing thread-locked shaft and screwing in some M6 bolts cut to size and doing all sorts of finagling to DIY the solution, but it's a lot of work and unless you're meticulous, you'll leave exposed threads to grind against your pattern plate. To that end, if you want a super-short shifter, then that's still going to be your solution, but if you just want to take those two inches off from the default knob, then this is a great way to do it and it just feels so much better to use.Installation is pretty easy. The TH8A shaft uses (reportedly) an M9 threading where the knob goes. The M10 bushing has too much give, so what I did was take the M8 bushing (which didn't quite fit) and simply twist it on all the way down to the tip. In retrospect, it might have been smarter to cut the bushing in half, but this meant that the bushing was super tight and wouldn't have a lot of play when the knob was attached, so I'm very happy with how that turned out. Second, you unscrew the inner shaft of the knob and it will reveal three holes at the top for the included allen screws; align the inner shaft to where you want it (I simply put it right at the tip so there'd be the maximum length reduction) and then screw in three of the four included screws as tight as you can using the included key. Then simply twist on the knob over the shaft and you're done. You're now working with a significantly shorter shifter, but not so short that the knob will do any damage. The change in feel is immediate, I promise you.The knob itself is a very smooth, machined metal (aluminum?) that feels very nice on your hands and has a nice hefty weight to it, but not too much that it would shift itself in the TH8A where there's little resistance like in an actual car. It makes it much more satisfying to throw the stick around and even just two inches off the top gives it a much better and more modern feel. Uninstalling is going to be pretty easy if you ever want to go back to the original knob so there is zero permanent damage to the original device if you're worried about that.I spent a lot of time looking at possible solutions where I wouldn't have to cut or replace the shaft and I took a chance on this one, hoping there wasn't any threading preventing the knob from going all the way down. Thankfully, because of the bushing design, the inner tubing is smooth and will allow the knob to go down its entire length instead of just perching on top. If you're looking to accomplish the same thing, then I highly recommend this knob; it comes in a few different colors as well so you can go nuts.If I needed to replace an actual knob in a car, I think I'd be happy with this one, too, though perhaps I might wish for some sort of grip if only because I never drive with gloves on and you don't want your hands to slip off. However, the weight and feel of it is excellent and since it has no patterns or design, it just looks sleek and not like a cheap piece of trash. However you want to use this, know that there is one person out there who is extremely happy with it.
