SMART (or dumb) SOFTWARE ISSUES: Every noise is a sound alert. The filtering is terrible. The Nanit won’t notify you unless it specifically detects BABY cries and sounds, but any loud sound that might be from your voice or TV the Philip app will alert you saying it’s a baby sound.LACK OF VIDEO/CLOUD PLAYBACK SUPPORT: This is the biggest downside and area of greatest potential for Philips. With the Nanit you can rewind to see what happened a few mins or hours or even days ago. But with the Philip a you just get a movement alert to open the app. Once you open the app what has happened has happened so you cannot have a record of events.PRIVACY ISSUES: Admins should have the ability to disable audio listening for Guests. It is a privacy concern when you give family and friends access to the video feed without the ability to turn off the audio feed - they can listen in on you and your partner in bed at any hour…ADMIN ACCESS ISSUES: Unable to retract or resend admin invite. It’s just stuck on greyed out and doesn’t let you resend despite other person not receiving any email invite.ZOUNDREAM CRY DETECTOR TRIAL: Unable to access the 90-day free trial. Signed on, but the button to activate the free trial is greyed out. Have to call Philips customer support.. currently I am still waiting for their team to resolve the issue. May take 3-5 days is what I was told.GOOD HARDWARE, EXCEPT: This is the only advantage over the Nanit: better camera quality (you can see the fine details of your baby’s skin and clothing textures, whereas the Nanit is often blurry) and nicer stand (sturdy brushed aluminum instead of the Nanit’s plastic materials).However, the monitor stopped working after a few days. It’s stuck at “low battery” and would just turn off after you turn it on despite being connected to USB-C.

We bought this while on sale which made the price compatible with similar monitors on the market; now that we have been using it, I can confidently say I would have bought it at full price...especially considering you do not need to purchase a monthly membership (for the majority of the features) unlike many of its counterparts.The monitor was very easy to set up and readily attached to our SNOO (however someone else mentioned the AI cannot detect breathing rate when the SNOO is moving). Image quality is top notch. You can cary the physical monitor around the house and watch baby without Wifi, but can also use your phone to monitor baby from anywhere (like when grandma is babysitting or I am at work and pumping). Love that I can talk to baby from another room or from work as well.As a FTM I didn't realize babies were so active during "light sleep", The monitor will tell you if the baby is awake or in light sleep and has stopped me from accidentally waking my baby up and confusing their sleep noises from being a little fussy (especially in those first few weeks).The sleep dashboard is my favorite! It tells you how many hours the baby slept during each nap and a cumulative total for the day, we've been able to use this to recognize patterns in when baby wakes up and adjust our feeding schedule to get more sleep. My husband and I also alternate the night shift, and I use the sleep dashboard to see if baby had a good or bad night to decide if I need to wake up and help my husband with an early morning feed.The monitor will alert you if the room gets too warm or cold. As mentioned the cry interpretation feature seems pretty unreliable (we used the free trial period but did not pay to extend that feature).This is the only monitor we have ever used, but I love it! I was so confused when it came to purchasing a baby monitor so I hope this review helps someone...

4 Stars because of a misleading product. Please read the additional details of this product. While this is a great picture-quality camera to "monitor" baby, it WILL NOT NOTIFY/ALERT you if your child stops breathing/has problems breathing. Tracking breathing isn’t reassuring when there’s a real problem. I believe most people have purchased this product without realizing this. I have this camera paired with a Babysense 7 Movement monitor (under mattress, pad style no-contact) for that peace of mind. I find the app easy to use, can add another user if needed through email invite. (They must download the app and make their own account).Other Pros:Havent had any connectivity issues yet.It can detect cries from pretty far away. Good sound-qualityThe crib/wall mounting options are easy enough and solid.Parent unit has great range.Does track sleeping pretty wellThermometer is +/- 1°F, pretty good.Lets you record video through app.Lullabys are decent.Cons/nitpickingI find the nightlight at its highest setting still too dim.SenseIQ cry detection is free for 3 months. And Wifi only.For $350, quite expensive. It has a lot of positives if you're looking for a wearable-free setup. This makes a great addition to anything else that will notify you if your child stops breathing.Will update this review later on.

We love this camera. We were considering this and the Nanit and decided on this because of the dedicated monitor + iPhone app.We would constantly see other parents who had the Nanit with their phones awkwardly propped up to try and continue to monitor the app. While Nanit does have Picture in Picture, the video stream still dominates a portion your iPhone screen, making multi-tasking difficult. Having a dedicated monitor which is sturdy + the app for a quick check-in has been the best of both worlds.The other thing that we didn’t like with the Nanit was giving guest access to Nanny’s or Grandparents. I know there are ways to restrict access to certain durations with the Nanit, but still thought it would be best to avoid scenarios with grandparents asking to turn their access back on :) With this, you can just pass over the dedicated monitor without sharing any credentials or access.The motion detection, breath tracking and cry translation are all nice benefits, but I wouldn’t buy just for these features. I would say the cry translation is right about 80% of the time, which is great and will probably get better as they continue to train their models. This is a new product, but clearly built to be improved upon with software updates.

Wonderful when it works!Connection issues. For some reason this thing is terrible with connection issues! It’s constantly saying there was an error and unable to get video stream. So we grab the cheap camera we also have and use that one instead most of the time since this happens all day every day. With the app and with the device it comes with, it doesn’t connect. WiFi is full strength and right next to the baby camera and it still says it can’t get a signal when all other devices can. It doesn’t give an option to record on its own: you have to open the app and press record, then it gives me an error and says it can’t record because it lost connection. It would be nice to be able to put a memory card in for continuous recording so I can look back and see footage so I can see what my baby was up to.The temperature gauge is a little off and always says it’s warmer than it is. I’m not sure if it’s by the camera itself and that’s why it feels warmer next to the battery or because heat rises?Cry translator doesn’t pick up crying half the time or just says “cry is translating” and doesn’t actually translate. When it does translate, it’s incorrect at least half of the time for our baby. But maybe our baby is just different.Music feature is cool to use as a backup plan. It lets you record your own lullaby which is nice.The sensor for how long baby has been in bed and respiratory rate don’t really work either. Crib can be totally empty and it says baby is in there and breathing. Or says he’s in a light sleep when he’s awake and playing in the crib. Then when I put baby in the respiratory rate is way off. If anything in there has a pattern like sheets or his clothes or his mobile above the bed, I think it makes it harder for the sensor to detect baby. There’s also no alarm function if the respiratory rate is way too high or low. Not super helpful. We have an Owlet which does alarm so that’s fine for us.The night vision is really great and I can see baby clearly with it. You can use your phone to talk to baby but I don’t really use that since I’m close by anyway.I do love that it builds an encrypted channel, though, for privacy. That’s really great and worth dealing with connection issues.Overall I think it’s great, but could use some improvement with its poor connectivity issues and sensor accuracy, along with better recording options like motion detection or continuous with a memory card.
