Excellent grip strength, very light, and easy to squeeze open the grip to place it on brush. Pay no attention to my incorrect installation of the chain to the grip, that will be fixed according to the instructions in the photos next time I go out kayaking. I'm quite pleased with this and see it lasting a long time.

I have to say that this is one of those "why didn't I get this sooner" accessories for my fishing kayak. Instead of dealing with the weight and clutter of regular anchors, this device easily grips onto branches, brush, or dock posts to hold my kayak steady. It's really strong for its compact size, and the rubber-coated grips prevent damage to what you're anchoring to.

After kayaking for years, I never realized I needed this device until a friend and I were kayaking for a long time and we needed to use the bathroom on the shore. We had to invent something to secure our kayaks to the dock and after that I immediately knew THIS device was the ticket. It has a secure enough clamping grip with 16 teeth to sufficiently grab onto something to secure the kayak. The 13 foot chain was a bit long, but you can use the included carabeaner and u clamp to shorten it without cutting links. The rubber handles allow easy grip and opening of the clamp. The manufacturer claims the chain can handle 700 lbs - not sure if I would want to test that, but for my kayaking adventure, I don’t think I need to worry. I may even be able to secure a second kayak to mine if needed in a pinch with the longer chain. If you have a stake you could even use this to put your kayak in the water first and then walk away if you need to get gear before heading out. I think I will finally realize how many uses I can get from this, once I keep it in my kayak each trip. They do sell them with a rope rather than chain. Not sure which I prefer at this point since I have the chain.

I recently picked up this kayak tree gripping tool, and it’s been a game changer for keeping my kayak secure while out on the water. This tool easily grabs onto tree branches or bushes, preventing my kayak from drifting away, which is especially handy when I’m taking a break or fishing. The grip is strong and reliable, so I don’t have to worry about it slipping off. What I really appreciate is the included chain, which adds extra security and makes it easy to attach to various anchors. It’s lightweight and compact, so it doesn’t take up much space in my gear bag. Overall, this kayak tree gripping tool is a must-have for any kayaker looking for a simple way to keep their boat in place while enjoying the outdoors!

Overall, this is a quality product. It's sturdy and the clamping jaws work great on tree limbs and brush. It's definitely a trustworthy method of securing a standard kayak to objects on the shoreline of lakes and rivers. Just remember that your anchorage is only as strong as the clamped object; if a tree limb breaks and falls into the river it won't help that your kayak is firmly clamped to it.I like the chain and the clamp itself a lot. Like an earlier reviewer I am on connecting the chain to one side of the clamp. I will also probably replace the little u-shaped connector and the carabiner with more robust connections, but what is included will work for now. 5 stars for the value and the quality of the clamp and chain.
