The manual that came with it says "powerful fan", it's not and it's noisier than what is should be for the amount of flow it's generating. Now to be fair, it probably shouldn't be pulling in a lot of air so that what is does pull in has time to disinfect. However, I don't like being lied to, the fan is less forceful than a computer fan. It will take time to see if it actually works.

I like to use these after I have been to an outing with lots of people. I like the white noise too at times. I honestly feel I sneeze far less while using these. IMO.

Product arrived on time and well packaged. It has been in use now in our bedroom for about three months during the Covid 129 outbreak. It does generate some noise on high speed, but it is not objectionable. It is like white noise in the background. Airflow is small as this is rated for a small room and the air must spend some time passing by the UV bulb for it to be disinfected. There is a VERY SLIGHT ozone type odor if you stick your nose close to the exhaust port. Power consumption, if memory serves, was about 20 to 35 watts or so on the meter, so it will not raise your electric bill significantly. It does have a second low speed but I have not used that much because low speed emits a rotational squeak type noise that I do notice. It is very minor but I have sensitive hearing. Others may not even notice the noise if it is present in all models. Overall...I am very pleased with the product. Please note that this is for SMALL rooms...10/28/2020 - Unit has been running non stop since purchased in May. Have not had to change the bulb and no issues with the device.

I'm not sure why other people thought this unit would be smaller than it is, they could have looked at the dimensions before buying it. It works just great. The air is fresh - there is absolutely no odor lingering anywhere from anything, and as someone with asthma, I couldn't be more satisfied with this product. I didn't buy this as a cute little table-top item, I bought it for its effectiveness; and it really IS unobtrusive and smart-looking. I have it placed on the floor, near my fireplace, it looks just fine.

Update: 8/6/2024: I found mold during a remodel and didn't think it was that bad until I broke out severely. I did an ozone shock treatment which helped. I had put this away in storage during the remodel, knocking walls down and chipping up tile. Even tho half of the house is protected by a quarantine zipper bag, I still kept having issues. I remembered this thing, and also that I have two of them. I reconnected them both on high to "shock" my house and it worked. I was able to start sleeping at my place again without breaking out.UPDATE: August 2, 2019 -- 4 StarsThe company reached out after responding to my original review and offered to replace the item which works perfectly. It's very quiet and I can feel the difference it makes in the deeper breaths I'm able to take.-- Here is why 4 stars. I believe the product produces some type of byproduct. UV + TiO2 in my understanding is a hydroxyl generator. I have two of these to cover 1000 sq feet (roughly 500 sq per floor), 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs. When I turn the units on, in about 10 minutes I can breathe better. While on my day off at home, I felt like I was having a mild headache, and some type of breathing issue as if my throat was closing. Just to confirm, I went outside for fresh air as a test and re-entered the house. Yep. It's the units and I turned them off and felt better.I originally decided to run them when I'm not home, but came up with a better plan that works:1.) I do not run them while I'm in the same room. I tried again using the low setting while sleeping and woke up with a dry mouth and dry lungs and dry everything else.2.) I discovered I can run the unit downstairs on low setting all the time and won't have an issue.3.) Honestly, I should have only purchased 1 unit, because they are very powerful. This $70 machine does exactly what a Reme Halo costs hundreds more, minus the french fry smell side effect I hear about.I actually have a similar product from a different manufacturer but it's too large to keep out, so I purchased these. So, would I recommend it, yes. I use both Germ Guardians in conjunction with my 2 Winix Plasma waves.Original review: July 24, 2019 -- 1 starFirst, I know exactly what these do. I cannot afford $600 to $800 for a Reme Halo, so this is an excellent alternative for the price and I scored two of them on Prime Day. I unboxed and turned them on and one of them is perfect. It is reasonably quiet with no issues. The other had a slight electrical essence or that of oil spilled on a hot engine. It was also noticeably louder than the other. After letting them run for a bit, I decided to put one in my bedroom. OMG - it's so loud like a bearing is going out, and when you turn it off it sounds like a plane engine powering down, but on a smaller scale. Kid you not --- it takes about 20 seconds for the spinning noise to stop.I initiated an exchange and received a replacement with the same problem however, it is not as bad as the first one. I still would not put the replacement in my bedroom. I switched them around and a good product is in my bedroom which is great. My concern is quality - I would have never known there was an issue if I had not purchased two at the same time, and don't want to hear a machine squealing 24/7 in my house.
