Very fat and ringing sound. This went into a guitar that is similar to a Ibanez Prestige series at the neck position and it captures quite a wide band of sounds from the bass heavy chugs to open chord trebliness.Volume changes during bending when the string moves away from the pickup pole pieces are eliminated with the blade pole-piece geometry.I will add a coil split in future to see what other sounds it can capture but as a default it works quite fine indeed.

Quality:I received mine wax potted already, but I did dip em in for a second round to be safe. The pickup is different in that they come with 3 magnets, rather than the 2 you'd expect. That third magnet makes them very high output, but it also makes it not quite hum-cancelling when split.Because it makes half of each rail pair stronger they pick up more stray interference. After pulling that 3rd (middle) magnet off it made the pickup a touch brighter and fully humbucking when split.Tone:They're not the -exact- sound I was looking for, but they are close enough. They are very chunky sounding and work great with distortion pedals, although I'd prefer a pickup with a tighter bass and more treble and upper mid response across the board. If they wired the pickups with 8 leads to give more wiring options, running the top and bottom pair in parallel might be the exact thing I'm looking for.Ease of installation:If you're only running them humbucker or split the wires are pre-soldered fairly nicely.I had to desolder them to work with my Ibanez dynamix system, however making things a touch more difficult. The paper was a little misleading with the wiring; the pair is Black-White and Red-Green, though the paper makes it look Black-Red and White-Green, I believe. The pickups are standard humbucker size, although they might be a little of a tight fit width-wise.They have plenty of wire to work with for long rout distances.Final thoughts:For about $15, they are absolutely fantastic. At this cost I might actually grab a second set to modify, being less expensive than practically every pickup kit out there, and I'd be far less worried about accidently breaking them.

Wired this up to split the coils, sounds good . Wires are very thin so be careful. Pickups are not waxed, so they are slightly microphonic. Tone is great for heavier sounds, with a coil split it's decent for cleans as well. Definitely high output, reads about 18 ohms.

High output, yes. I have 2 and they both 18 ohm. Mine are not microphonic what so ever. If they are wax potted, I have no way of knowing without complete disassembly, and that's not happening. I am impressed for the price. They are great for metal. and they sound real good for classic rock sound. When I run them on a clean channel, they are certainly better than I expected. If you get this pickup, go to lowes and get you some rubber grommets and replace the springs because the base is flat and the springs are too long. You won't be able to get it above your pick guard by even an 1/8th of an inch. Besides, rubber grommets are better for vibration control. Pinch harmonics are a snap with this pickup. I read the bad reviews and took a chance anyway. They are brighter and have a midrange tone. All I can say other than this is, don't be fooled by the price. If you get one that doesn't work, have them send you a new one. This pickup is a lot better than some are saying. I plan to get another one.

The Price Is A Giveaway. This Blade Bucker Is Built Well and Sounds Better Than You Would Expect For $15.00 Dollars! After The Word Gets Out, the Price Will Go Up! Others Have Said Much The Same Thing Regarding The Price And The Performance In Their Reviews. Of Course There Have Been Some Guys Who Were Not Very Pleased With Their Install, and it Is For Them That This Review is Being Presented For Consideration As Well!First Let Me Address the Muddy Sound That Some Players Have Experienced, Yep They Are Right, That Can Happen, Especially If There Is a Mismatched Set Of Pups in The Neck and/or Mid Position, And, Typical Stock Single Coils Against The Blade Bucker Just Cannot Balace In Output, Voice or Tone; Also A PAF Neck Bucker That Ohms Around 7.5 Will Even Sound Cleaner! BUT, There Are 2 Remedies Offered Here That Will Help! READ ON! A Simple Rewire Of The Blade Bucker From Series To Parallel and Then An Install Of A 500k Volume Pot Works Wonders! The Pup Arrives Wired in Standard Series Mode and Ohm's Out At a Nasty 18.00 ohms, Way Over The Top For Many Installs, Be Sure Of That! But Wired In Parallel The Ohm Resistance Drops To 4.5 and Believe It Or Not , The Blade Sounds Smoother and Almost Sweet! In Many Cases It Will Need to Be Raised A Bit To Balance Output With The Other Pups, But The Results Are Surprising! Guys You Have 4 Blades/Poles Pulling Signal From Your String's Vibes, and The Response Is Full and Also Touch Sensitive; The Tone In Overdrive is Punchy and Fairly Kleen, It Is Not Muddy and the Output Is Not In Your Face! In Addition, The Mids and Highs Are Not Pushed, Harsh Or Edgey As You Might Expect. Please Note: Other Rail Pups In Single Coil Configuration Will Probably Be The Best Match For Fender FatStrat Applications Such As Mine!In Any Event, This Pickup May Not Do Well No Matter How It is Installed, Just The Nature of The Beast, So Many Variables of Wood and Body Design Can Make Pickup Replacement A Daunting Task Indeed. However, Many More Players Will Be Better Satisfied Using Parallel Wiring With This Blade Bucker. Do Some Googling, Read Up, Find Some Common Humbucker Wiring Diagrams, Not Difficult At All, Good Luck and Play On My Brothers!
