Overall a decent quality mid/low end brake caliper. Not something I would put on a race bike or high end road bike, but good for a commuter, urban, or cruising bike. My only complaint is that the pads that came with it are garbage. I replaced them with Shimano BR-6700 Ultegra Caliper Pads and they are significantly better. Literally night and day difference. I installed this on my fixed gear and left stock pads on front and the upgraded pads on rear and the braking control/power on the rear was significantly better than the front. If you're only riding occasionally the pads that come with it will suffice, but definitely upgrade if you ride frequently.

Bought a new Trek Domane 2 with caliper brakes. Had originally purchased a front and rear set of 105 caliper brakes, but I could not find anything other than short reach versions. Rear brake arm was not long enough (as the brake pad would not entirely cover the rim, making riding on it dangerous for the tire bead), and this was the only modern Shimano caliper brake with a mid reach or longer. This is a generic Shimano brake. Nothing special, but it's a Shimano, so you know it will be reliable. The build quality of the bolts is mediocre (the factory cheap Chinese brake bolts on the Domane 2 were actually better, so I kept those instead of the Shimano ones, and also kept the cable adjustment screw as well, as the Shimano one is slightly heavier). Build quality of the brake itself is great, though. Changed out the brake pads immediately to a shoe-and-pad arrangement, as the default ones on this brake are also mediocre and cheap. Overall, decent brake for a mid-reach.

Nothing fancy, but seem sturdy and give decent breaking performance. They are longer reach so my pads are nearly all the way to the top, but I knew this when I ordered them. They are still within acceptable range for a normal frame in case you were wondering.

I love the style image plus the color looks awesome on my bike plus it was easy to install I replaced my original brake pads because of the original ones were worn out plus I am all about detail and style plus h ing the most modern of items on my Cadillac bike!
