It's a nice and small dovetail plate that works fine. I have not tested it with a range of baseplates. But the Smallrig and the Kondor Blue adjustable plates work perfectly with it. I'm using the Kondor Blue 501 and it's perfect. So, it seems as though the tolerance might be good enough for most baseplates. It slides smoothly. The only thing I'm not a fan of, is that the center is not full of 1/4 or 3/8 holes. There's a random section in the front and back that is just a large slot. So I'm not about to use the screw holes as I was hoping to on my tripod, but either way, it's on the perfectly. Just wish it didn't have that large slot as it seems uselessIt's only 8", so you don't get the most amount of adjustability, but for most rigs,I think this is perfectly fine. It's not until you're using massive cameras and lenses. But even most Cine cameras and most cine lenses should be ok with this. But if you do have anything big, go with a 10". I think 12" would be overkill for most setups, even though it's the standard.

This ARRI rail is an absolute chunk! It's a serious piece of gear for serious work, yet Smallrig removed metal in a thoughtful manner to reduce weight without compromising strength. So many threaded holes... very useful for getting the rail right where you want it on your head, whether it's attached to a sliding adaptor on a video head, or a fixed adaptor on a cheap camera head, you'll find a position that works well for you.I've like that the stops at both ends require decent pressure to release, you won't accidentally bump-release your rig while adjusting its position on the rail.My Sirui baseplate slides smoothy on the rail, both brands have manufactured their ARRI dovetails to spec.
