Finally! Someone created hats sized for large heads! Rarely does an off-the-rack fit my large head. Add thick hair or French braids and it's almost impossible to find something! But, THIS hat WINS!My head measures 59" and according to their chart I can wear a large, but I opted for the XL because braids add bulk to my head and I don't like tight hats. This sits perfectly with a little wiggle room which means no more headaches from too tight hats!I ordered the cream color and it's a perfect creamy cream. The flip up-flip down brim stays where you put it and gives you two different looks! The brim is large enough to keep the sun out of your eyes, but doesn't hang so low that it obscures your vision! It's a perfect sun shade!The inside is lined with mesh and there's also a slightly padded mesh sweatband. There's lots of ventilation around the crown, too. The strap is detachable with tiny buckles and also has a push button toggle to keep that hat in place! It slides up and down the strap easily. If you're not a fan of chin straps it can be removed and the elastic toggle band at the back can be used to tighten the hat instead. It's compact and folds easily for packability! Looks like it's hand washable only. UPF50, waterproof, breathable, foldable, compact, a big brim, plus the quality is outstanding! I am so thrilled with this hat!

The three openings at the back are are holes through, the front ones have a mesh when you “open” it. If you plan on opening them to use the hat with mesh exposed for air flow - get a bigger size and maybe I will work, in my try on it - I could put my finger in it but I’d not be able to lift the flap for air.It has piping along the edge so keep it in mind if you are looking for a very compact hat.

This hat saved me through Europe. I got this for an early spring European river cruise and it was PERFECT! It handled rain, wind, and sun with ease. It folded up in my bag whenever I wasn't using it, and unfolded whenever I wanted it. The wire brim made it perfect to mold back into shape. It braved the winds of the Netherlands, the rain and sun of Germany and France, and made it to Switzerland in perfect shape. The adjustable chin strap was lovely. I have nothing bad to say about this hat!
