This is an adapter for attaching a Starlink Mini to a tripod mount. The adapter is made of solid aluminum. It is 2” in diameter and ¾” thick. The shape is mostly round, except on end where there is a shallow beak; opposite that end there is a shallow cut out to receive the tightening screw of the standard Mini pole mount. To use the adapter, you drop it in the round receptacle of the pole mount that comes standard with the Mini. Then you screw in the tightening screw from the pole mount to secure the adapter within the pole mount. The adapter has a ¼” screw hole on the bottom which enables you to attach it to just about any standard tripod mount. No instructions are included in the box, but it’s pretty self-explanatory. It was made in China.I really like the solid construction of this adapter. I originally tried a similarly shaped plastic adapter with my Mini. The plastic adapter originally worked well, but within about 2 weeks of constant use, it began fall to apart, starting with the beaked edge. This metal mount is much more rugged, so I think it will last a lot longer. My only concern with this mount is that the cut out for the mount screw is rather shallow, less than ¼”. That leaves the tightening screw mostly hanging in the air. On the other hand, with my old plastic mount, the corresponding cutout was quite deep and required more than 30 turns of the screw to tighten. Since this cutout doesn’t require the screw to go in nearly as deeply, it will go and off a lot faster. Overall, this is a great solution for creating a secure tripod mount for a Starlink Mini.

I wanted an adapter to enable use of my Starlink Mini with my existing tripods and other mounting devices. I believe this is the best way to provide mounting flexibility for a variety of mounting options. Many of the tripod adapters I looked at were made of plastic. While the OEM base the adapter inserts into is plastic, I wanted a metal adapter since that is where most of the stresses are exerted which is why I chose this one. It is a one piece adapter and has an index so that it locks into position easily and securely. The tripod or other similar adapter easily threads and locks into position into this adapter opening the door to multiple mounting options. Overall this is a solid built adapter and works perfect for its intended application. I highly recommend it if you need a tripod adapter for a Starlink Mini.
