I am very impressed by the unit. I used this as an insert for a custom cabinet. It worked out great. My favorite color is the natural at the lowest setting it really looks like a flame especially after allowed time to warm up.The unit around where the lighting for the flame gets hot to the touch after left on for a while but the flame itself isn’t hot at all. Very discreet filling system and easy to use. The app is a little rudimentary but it’s not like you need much I’m just happy to be able to turn it off and on from my phone and also the included remote. The flame sound is unrealistic but I don’t want it to make noise anyway, there is q small amount of noise that you can hear the water running but not a big deaI have used distilled water only in the unit just to avoid any mineral buildup over time, there is an included hose to fill the unit from time to time. I used it every other day for a couple hours and it lasts a few weeks. The smaller size is perfect just to get the effect of a small fireplace. It’s a great price for what you get.

The manual was difficult to understand. It must of been written in China. It is really simple to operate once you are able to figure it out. It adds a nice ambiance to the room.

The "gold standard" in these things is a company called Optimyst (who might have actually invented this method). They are fantastic, and super cool, but also about $1500-2000 a unit. We just can't afford that as we have a pass through fireplace (see from both sides) that we were converting from gas to electric (electrifying the entire house). We bought our first unit, NOT this model or from this company, off Amazon for about the same price, and it is nice, but had two major drawbacks: A. no way to hook up to water source full time, and B. the "flames" move really slowly. Still mesmerizing, still super cool, but not QUITE as realistic as an Optimyst. So then when I saw this model, and some of the videos, we decided to try this as our second unit. The result is it fixes both of our issues with the other inexpensive model we had: the flames "move fast" and there is a dedicated water hook up line (although they note that you NEED to put in a pressure regulator, so that's on you).Honestly, I can't tell the flame quality difference between this one and the Optimyst. I really can't. This one is so good that if/when we decide to replace our first unit that we don't like as much, I WILL buy another of this one and not even bother comparison shopping, because with this unit, I KNOW I'll get what I want; saving a few bucks more isn't worth the risk. This is what you want.A note on heat: this is NOT SUPPOSED TO PRODUCE HEAT like other gas/electric fireplaces. It does throw off a little heat by nature of its operation, but that is not the objective. So don't down-rate the product if it doesn't keep you warm. It's not supposed to (nor do WE want it to; we have a hyper efficient heat pump for that; I don't want some inefficient resistive heater trying to heat my room). If I had any feedback to the manufacturer, it would be this: long term would be great to get the app or widget to integrate into Home Assistant and/or some of the other home automation products out there (Apple, Google, Homey, etc.). Perhaps wait a bit until Matter over Thread/Wifi becomes a bit more used, and get at least SOME of the basic on/off functions to work over Matter. That way one could, say, turn on lights in a room, and it would automatically turn on, and then automate it to turn off say 30 min after you turn off the lights (for instance if you have it in your bedroom). Also, the full hook up inlet is fine, but it'd be nice if one could directly hook up a water line with a threaded/secure connection and do the pressure regulation IN the unit. But this is minor.Definitely a five star product, ESPECIALLY considering what the top of the line costs.

Huge heavy box came in and we installed right away. It’s relatively quiet, easy to put together, fits the space under nice the tv and actually made everything look super nice and expensive. Heat level is moderate, adjustable, and because we’re in Texas this is more of a decor for us than an actual heater.
