This notebook came in a thick resealable bag. It arrived in perfect condition — no dents or dings — would make a nice gift for a young artist with the addition of some colored pencils, graphite, colored pens/markers, etc.The covers are thick and strong and the paper is of good quality. It’s thick enough to resist bleeding although probably not thick enough for watercolor unless it was very light. The starry night motif is attractive. I think it would appeal to many people for sketching. Recommended.

PRICE ON 12/15/24: $14.99 full price.5-STARS: I almost dinged a star for price. Since I couldn't find any comparable 8.5x11 alternatives to this hardcover sketchbook with super heavyweight paper and "extra pretty" covers, I will consider the price an acceptable luxury tax.I wouldn't ordinarily pay this much for a sketchbook, even of this quality. I chose it as a suitably classy gift for my mother, a life-long grower of roses who has won awards at the Rose Society for some of her arrangements.Honestly, I'm a little worried that my mother will find this "too nice to use" - haha.GOOD SIZE: It met my criteria of being large-ish, but not too unwieldy for my newly sedentary elderly mom.HARDCOVERS: I wanted hardcovers front and back, to give her flexibility for where she sketched, eg, sketching while sitting on the sofa, or in a lawn chair out in the yard.I removed the plastic shrink wrap for more wow factor when she unwraps her gift, and so she could open it immediately to feel the paper.200 GSM PAPER: The weight of the paper certainly exceeded my requirements, but I enjoyed providing at least one super heavyweight sketchbook, along with a couple other options for my mom, in different sizes with different weight papers.Before packing it, I checked to make sure the paper inside did not suffer any quality issues. The sheets were clean and flat, super heavyweight, and seemed nicely textured.LABELING: There are no specs printed on the Sketchbook itself. I kept the outer plastic zip envelope (and included it under the sketchbook in my gift box) because it had the only labeling with paper size and weight of paper, etc.NO PERFORATIONS: All other things equal, I usually choose sketchbooks with perforated pages, so they can be cleanly removed in order to share artwork, or pin it on the fridge. I could live without it in this case.
