update: the seller (SVBONY Direct) read this review just a few days later and offered a full refund, no questions asked.It will hold a massive Galaxy S24 Ultra with cover on the very limit of its dimensions, but you have to place this phone crooked because the adjustment isn't enough to align the cameras with the center of the mount.the spring of the holder isn't strong enough to keep the phone steady and it rotates and slides on the mount as it only has 2 holders (the 3rd isn't a holder, is just a stopper that can't be adjusted to balance the phone so it wouldn't slide). rubber on the holders is hard and doesn't have any grip on the phone, which would prevent sliding too.all 3 axis adjustment rods have an absurd thread play and the phone always slides out of adjustment because of this play.

It is a wonderful product that meets all the hype. The only challenge I have seen is if you use it on a binocular. You can not get the eyepiece close enough to the camera to come anywhere near filling the view the camera is seeing. However, on a telescope it is not an issue

The biggest reason for trying this is repeatability of phone position. This adapter has a molded, padded stop at the bottom of the phone holding area. This is a great advantage, but also a weakness.The stop is an advantage because the phone goes back into the SAME holding spot every time, with very little fiddling. The stop is a weakness because chances are good that there WILL be a phone button on the side at that location. A case that leaves the buttons slightly recessed has a good chance of still fitting the holder. Still, it would have been nice to have some sort of adjustment to avoid the button collision.The stop is the big advantage this adapter has over the "Move Shoot Move" Tridapter. Lacking the stop, the Tridapter requires readjusting the "Y" axis every time the phone is attached.It also appears that the SVBONY adapter is a touch more substantial than the (already very substantial) Tridapter. For example, the clamping "window" sides are about .5mm thicker on the SVBONY than the Tridapter. The knobs are a bit easier to handle with gloves on.The SVBONY spring clamps the phone. The Tridapter screw-clamps the phone. It is easy to confuse the Tridapter phone screw for the x-axis adjustment screw.The Tridapter has a 20mm deep clamping band. This provides a steadier hold than the SVBONY 16mm clamping band. That being said, The SVBONY is still VERY steady with minimal clamping pressure.The single biggest drawback of the SVBONY is that the Z-axis adjustment can NOT bring the phone flush with the face of the clamp area. In fact, the back of the phone cannot get closer than 15mm from the "face" of the clamping area. This is a problem for scopes like the SVBONY SA401 20-60x85 scope. If you clamp on the eyecup so you can still operate the zoom, you WILL have space between the lens and the eyepiece, that that will let stray light degrade your image. If you clamp on the zoom so you do NOT have stray light you will not be able to operate the zoom without loosening the clamp, then likely needing to reset the Z-axis.Overall this is a solid, well-made adapter. Adjusting screws are larger diamter than the Tridapter, and have a lightly better feel. The phone locating foot is an outstanding feature. If the Z-axis adjustment could clamp to the eye cup AND minimize stray light it would be a 5 star. But since it does not work well with the scope mentioned, I can only give it 3 stars.If you will be using this on FIXED eyepieces (like using an adapter to put a wide angle 40X on the SA401, or most astronomy eyepieces) I'd rate this a full 5 stars.

I've tried a couple of other smart phone brackets over the years to use for quick shots with my telescopes, but THIS one stands out for its build-quality. It's all machined aluminum alloy and the X, Y and Z axis adjustment screws appear to be stainless steel with machined aluminum knobs. The clamp that holds the smart phone is spring-loaded and there is a "foot" that the bottom edge of the phone rests on, that makes positioning the phone easily repeatable. The eyepiece clamp has a wide adjustment range and there are rubber pads that cushion the eyepiece, to prevent scratching the surfaces of your favorite eyepiece.The included Bluetooth remote shutter trigger pairs easily with iOS and Android devices and allows shooting without touching the phone, which prevents the telescope from vibrating and blurring your shots. It uses a standard CR2032 disc battery which is included.Our recent local weather hasn't allowed much opportunity to actually use it on my scopes yet, but I can already see that it should function as advertised when the damn clouds clear out. Should get a chance tonight if today's forecast holds true. I'll post an update after actually getting to shoot with it. However, my initial impression is very positive.
