Very easy to install, they look great and recharge quickly. These hold a charge well even in the colder winter temps here in Maine. We have them on alternating post tops around our deck and front steps...look very nice from the road/driveway.

Before these arrived, I was worried that they would be made of thin, breakable plastic. But the plastic is thicker than I expected it to be, and I don't think they'll break nearly as easily as I originally feared. I haven’t thankfully, but I imagine it is possible to crack the post cap if you overtighten the screws.FITThese fit my posts well and are simple and look pretty nice. Posts are never exactly 3.5 x 3.5, so the caps must be a little larger to account for that. Some of my posts it fits nice and snug, while others it has a little overhang. It isn’t noticeable unless you look closely. Due to the screws, the cap is still secure.SCREWSThey give you the exact number of screws you need to put the caps on. You need to screw them in place because they blow off it you don’t. I learned that quickly. I do prefer they give you black screws instead of the gold they provide. Also, the screws they provide are cheap and I doubt are exterior ones. I have found that to be true of the screws that come with most post bases. A great thing in the design is that they actually taper the hole for the screws. I can’t remember ever seeing that in any other item I’ve purchased with predrilled holes. Most screws are a tapered shank (including the ones they give you, of course). The tapered holes in the caps allow the screws to be hidden and protected inside the edges of the cap. You won’t catch a screw on your shirt or anything walking by the caps, too, assuming that is possible anyhow.BENEFIT AND APPEARANCEThe great thing about plastic is it won’t have the issue of the coating chipping and rusting, as with metal post caps or bases. I don’t think this is the type of material to fade too. The last fence I made had the posts rot prematurely because I failed to have post caps. The paint on the top of the posts wore off quickly. I’m hoping this helps keep the posts cleaner and I know it will help with the rest.COMPARISON TO A SIMILAR CAP I HAVEI have tried one other brand of post caps that is extremely similar. It is similar plastic that is just as thick and sturdy, but instead smooth and shiny. I prefer this item for a few reasons. First, although the screws in the other are nice and black (still not exterior), they are shorter and the cap doesn’t have tapered screw holes (despite the screws being tapered). I much prefer the appearance of these caps. Though, they both look similar at a distance, this item is a dark and attractive black color. My other caps are a black that has a slight brown appearance but not in an attractive way, in my opinion. The smooth appearance mixed with the color, make the other brand of post caps I have seem to have a cheaper appearance. These caps have a nice design, giving them a bit of a formal look. The main difference that makes me recommend this item over the other, is that these caps have a thin rim that is sticking out. I don’t know how to describe what I’m referring to. It causes the top to almost have an overhang like a roof does, which leads to water runoff further from the post. These caps extend slightly beyond the posts yet still fit snugly due to that design. My other ones lack that hangover and thus encourage water to run straight down the side of the post, as it would without any post cap at all.PRICEThe price of this item is fantastic. Since, I’ve spent so much money on the fence I’m replacing, being able to add this important part at a cheap price is a big plus. Solar post caps is an alternative and fun option, but they are bulky, more expensive, will look very poor after weathering outdoors, and ideally should be taken in during the winter. If you want to get those, perhaps switching them out with these cheap caps would be a great money saving option. Though, I guess it depends on how tall your posts are.I am very happy with this item. I would recommend these if you just want a simple protection for the top of your posts without spending a bunch of money on it.

I ordered these caps to cover the top of the 4x4 posts on our deck. We had to renovate our deck as an interim solution until we decide if we want to use another kind of material. These black posts add a nice look to our finished deck. I really like that these are waterproof for protecting the posts on our deck. The price is excellent for six of these posts!

Not a lot to say about these. They fit well on a 4x4 (actually they are 3.5" x 3.5" posts from the lumberyard. Definitely will help keep rain/snow/sun off the end grain of posts and help them last longer - and dress them up a bit. The plastic seems fine - not super thin but a reasonable thickness. I cannot speak to durability as of yet. Screws come with for affixing to the post. Perhaps could be a little cheaper for what they are but still not too bad. Would recommend for the right application/DIY job.
