The temperature readings were off and so we adjusted our lab machines and then everything wouldn't run correctly. After a couple of weeks and many tests late, we realized these sensors were off and had to replace them.

Purchased to monitor work Freezer and Fridge ,and to alert me if temperatures get too high or low.I was not able to get it set up properly for my needs and was about to return it. Customer support ( in a foreign country) got it working correctly after many emails back and forth and finally them logging into the device to set it up correctly. I would now recommend and will purchase another one for the next Fridge/freezer.I purchased 2 separate probes , one for each unit.- I now get the alerts exactly as I set them.Definitely worth the price!

I too use this thermometer for brewing. I have used it to measure both mash temperature and post-chiller temperature into the fermenting bucket. It is easy to mount on the wall, and very sturdy. It is within one degree of my Thermapen, so I trust its accuracy.I have kept it submerged for hours (mash & sparge, plus sitting in spent grain inside the cooler), and never had any water penetration at all. The only time I have had a problem it was of my own doing (accidentally yanked the cord way too hard) causing the wire to break. But since they are relatively inexpensive, I just ordered a new one. Overall great thermometer, highly recommend.

I ahve purchased several other digital thermometers since I started brewing. None of them stand up. They either die easily from being submerged, or the thin cable gets kinked easily, or the cable melts through. That hasn't been the case with this thermometer. I have used it for about 6 brew days, and it's still going very strong. The cable is nice and thick, and very heat resistant. I accidentally let it dangle too close to my burner (was practically in the flame), and it scorched the rubber, but the probe still works. The cable is also plenty long, so that I can leave the thermometer face on my table a few feet away with the probe in the wort.Temperature is accurate, and very quick. a few seconds is all it takes to read temperature. The only thing I do not like about this thermometer, is the lack of a power switch. It is always on, unless you pull the battery. Pulling the battery requires removing the faceplate entirely. But considering what this unit was actually designed for, I can understand not having the switch, and for the price, this thing is tough to beat.

This is now my go-to thermometer for homebrew. I dangle the thermocouple in for checking sparge water temps, drop and leave in the mash tun to monitor mash and never have to remove the lid to take the temp, and tape it to the side of the carboy overlaid with a piece of bubblewrap (for insulation from the ambient) to monitor fermentation. I have many digital and analog units with probes and remote thermocouples including a $250 Pelouze and I like this unit better than them all. The single AAA battery is supposed to be good for a year, so I plan to just leave it in, the battery should be replaced once a year anyway they will eventually leak and corrode. For folks seeing 'LLL' on the panel this is usually a sign the thermocouple is not connected, probably the wire got yanked and pulled loose at the meter and should be taken apart and checked, really has nothing to do with the temperature; the meter is unable to sense the probe. These units are so good and so cheap, and since they can get accidentally abused, the replacement cost is not too painful. Highly recommend.
