The measurements are etched into the glass so they don't disappear. Also, they drain and dry in the dishwasher unlike the plastic ones that I just threw out.

**Background:** I got this because I'm never happy with traditional measuring cups. The gradations are usually painted on and they usually wear off. The spouts on those cups are also is not great to pour so you don't have good control.**Build Quality:** so I used to work in a lab and this is definitely Borosilicate Glass. However, it's a little thicker than your typical beaker. Maybe not thick as a heavy duty Borosilicate silica lab beaker but robust enough to be used in a kitchen. It's definitely nowhere as thick is a typical kitchen measuring cup but again I'm looking for something. That's a little more refined and gives me a little more control. The etching for the graduations on the side of the measuring glass are nice and clear.**Function:** so there's two things I'm looking for first are the graduations accurate. I took distilled water and measured it with a scale and checked both ounces and mL. And I think all markings were within 2% or 3% which is quite good. The next thing is how it pours. The V shape spout definitely helps you pour more cleanly and it's definitely an upgrade from your typical kitchen measuring cup. However, when trying to pour very minute there is a little bit of dribbling down the front. Still much better than your average measuring cup, but not perfect. It's also lighter than your typical measuring cups of someone has bad wrist this may make it easier to hold up and pour.I think lab beaker's typically have an enlarged rolled edge and that helps you get that precision. this has the V shaped spout, but it's lacking that rolled edge. I'm being really nit-picky here and it's probably related to my lab background.Still overall, I think it's a very good measuring cup very functional, it definitely will give you more control and more accuracy. And you don't have to worry about gradations, fading overtime. it's definitely a little more delicate than your typical kitchen measuring cup, but for me and my needs it's worth it to be a little more mindful and not throw it around and gain the control and permanent gradations I seek.

Update 4/15/25: I am truly in love with this cup. I made my best hollandaise sauce ever tonight thanks to a coffee cup warmer (see review), a white portable blender (see review) and this cup! It worked wonderfully! Oh and it poured with just a little drip.I agree with others. This is indeed borosilicate glass. Very light and well shaped handle.I did manage to pour without dribbling probably because I poured very slowly. The etching should last as opposed to the usual printed markings. My Pyrex cups have only started to get lighter after over 20 years but newer things I have bought have only lasted a few times in the dishwasher.I like the shape too. It doesn't stack as well but the borosilicate doesn't break easily knocking it together. The thinner glass and narrower profile takes less space.I did test for accuracy but I did not notice the 1/8 cup line. In fact, I checked my other measuring cups and they do not measure 1/8. I have apparently been guessing all this time! This makes this cup my favorite.I am going to have to get the 4 cup version. I haven't had luck finding one I like until now.

Clear volume etchings in ounces and milliliters; lighter than other glass measuring cups.-1 star for a bead of glass around the bottom inside that leaves a hard to reach recess between the bead and the bottom corner of the cup; this is going to be hard to clean.

I've been looking for a new measuring cup, because the one I have has lost most of the color from its markings, making it difficult to read. I prefer glass for its sturdiness. This 8oz measuring cup appealed to me because its markings are etched into the glass, something that won't fade over time. I was a little unsure of this measuring cup when I realized that there was no color to mark the measurements, but that concern was alleviated the first time I poured milk into it. I'm able to see all of the marks just fine. It is my understanding that the type of glass from which this is made is chip and break resistant, so it shoulld be very durable. It is a totally straight sided cup, which makes me feel like the measurements are more accurate for some reason.. Overall, I'm very pleased with this measuring cup, which seems to be a good value for the money.
